The Cursed Earth

And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

(Genesis 3:17-19) KJV

It seems that some people are confused by the concepts of original sin and the cursed Earth, because they interpret the passage about Noah after the flood as God removing the curse of original sin.

Nuclear Decay

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned –

(Romans 5:12) NKJV

Original sin set off a self-sustaining chain reaction of nuclear decay which is destroying the world. This is the curse on the Earth: Nuclear decay. Original sin also brought the curse of decay and physical death to our bodies. For this reason we call this era in the history of Earth the Sinian. It was the beginning of nuclear decay which brings us to the first scriptural reference to hell – it’s cause:

For a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

(Deuteronomy 32:22) NKJV

Toxic Waste

So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you till the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. A fugitive and a vagabond you shall be on the earth.”

(Genesis 4:11-12) NKJV

The rate of nuclear decay was exponential and the initial wave caused toxic substances to accumulate in the ground making it very hard to raise crops. The Earth would no longer supply a bountiful harvest of crops and fruits that Adam and Eve could take when they wanted it. Instead the Earth would yield her fruit only after Adam had tilled it, tended the crops, and labored for it.

Not only that, but the consequence of Cain murdering Abel was that the ground became poisoned wherever Cain went. Cain was thus unable to provide food for himself, and had to depend on others. He settled in one place and built a city. This is the curse that the land needed to be healed from.

Regeneration

And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

(Genesis 8:20-21) KJV

God didn’t remove original sin, that has to work itself out through the plan of redemption, but God renewed the ground so that it would bear fruit again. This was accomplished in large part by the waters of Noah’s flood, which washed away toxic compounds that had accumulated in the soil.
