The Sesame Street Song

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

(Ephesians 5:18-21) NKJV

Gender identity is a thing. It’s something which, probably, a large portion of society has wrestled with at some point in their life, or it may be ongoing. How should we handle it on a personal level? What is it to me? What do I need to understand about it?

Here’s the way that most people probably think about gender identity. Heterosexual people on the left, everyone else on the right. Perhaps surprisingly, this isn’t helpful at all.

Sesame Street Song

One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn’t belong, Can you tell which thing is not like the others, By the time I finish my song?

The fact is that straight people are just as carnal as everyone else. That’s the key. As an aside, you know what’s ironic? Sesame Street and Matty the Scribe are the same age (circa 1969).

If we think about this in the terms of our theory of gravity we can see which one doesn’t belong. Most of these identity types exist for the purpose of sexual gratification, carnal desire. That’s the only reason for them. They’re about pleasing oneself. We may please someone else in the process, but that’s really not what it’s about. It’s about getting what we want. Receiving, not giving.
