The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
(2 Thessalonians 2:9-12) New King James Version
We’re in what the New Testament describes as the age of grace, the church age, or the end times. The truth about God the creator is still evident but Satan, the lawless one, has placed a strong delusion in front of everyone which is intended to cause people to reject the truth about God, and their salvation.
People can choose not to receive the love of the truth, that’s their choice. It doesn’t mean that they weren’t offered it, because it’s certainly been made available. God has manifested his glory through creation, we all have a conscience, and Christian evangelism has reached to every part of the world.
The strong delusion is has taken many forms throughout history. In many cultures it manifested as false religion and the worship of idols. In our time the strong delusion is popular science (SciPop).
The popular science narrative of godless existence (SciPop) is an internally self-supporting network of inductive, reductive circular reasoning based on the premise that the origin of the universe, and thus humanity, has no supernatural cause. It’s existence is entirely the responsibility of peer review.
– The Popular Science Narrative of godless Existence (SciPop)
Part of the cleverness of the delusion is that it’s framed as being a rational choice which is based on facts and evidence. Supposedly the alternative, faith, has no facts or evidence. There’s two problems with the rationale behind the delusion:
- A fact can only be factual is it’s the same regardless of what you believe. The phrase “scientific fact” refers to a strategic data point in a narrative which is only true if you believe its premise, therefore it isn’t a fact.
- We all have exactly the same evidence (Matty’s razor).
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.
– Matty’s Razor
No matter how confused you may be by SciPop, at the end of the day it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is: do you believe in Jesus Christ?

Heart and soul make us unique, they drive and motivate us. Hopefully we’re motivated to seek the Lord, that’s really what were here for.
