A Tree is Known by its Fruit

To have good fruit you must have a healthy tree; if you have a poor tree, you will have bad fruit. A tree is known by the kind of fruit it bears.

(Matthew 12:33) Good News Translation

If a tree is known by its fruit then avoid trees with bad fruit. Stay away from people if you know they’re going to swear. Don’t engage with people if you know that they’re going to emit a stream of verbal effluence.

Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

(Matthew 5:36-37) NKJV

As for us, we don’t need to use swearing to add emphasis to the things that we say. Doing so demonstrates insincerity anyway, since swearing and lying are part of the same syndrome. If someone tells you that they are definitely going to do something and they make their point by swearing a lot, they’re probably lying.

“Judge not, that you be not judged.

(Matthew 7:1) NKJV

The important thing to understand about judging isn’t how to judge others, it’s how are we going to be judged? More to the point, if we swear how’s it going to impact how people judge Christianity?

We love SciFi movies, but we have to be really careful what we expose ourselves to.

If the words that Jesus Christ spoke are words of life to those who hear and believe them, then what are swear words? The words of death?
