From whose womb comes the ice? And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth? The waters harden like stone, And the surface of the deep is frozen.
(Job 38:29-30) NKJV
When we refer to ice ages we usually mean the “recent” ice age that ended supposedly 10,000 years ago. In the popular science narrative (SciPop) this was the last of several retreats and advances of polar ice over the last 10,000-40,000 years.
Firstly, that’s the ice age that falls between the Tertiary and Quaternary periods, the Pleistocene. In case you weren’t sure, that’s within the last 2.5 million years and it’s referred to as the recent epoch. The Permian, on the other hand, was supposedly 225-280 million years ago. What’s up with that?
PERMIAN
– Wilson N. Stewart, Paleobotany and the evolution of plants.
Uplift in Appalachian geosyncline. Cooler and drier climates with extensive glaciation in Southern Hemisphere. Rise of Northern Hemisphere Voltziales and diversification of Southern Hemisphere glossopterids. Extinction, arborescent lycopsids, and sphenopsids. Diversification of reptiles.
Secondly, “extensive glaciation in the southern hemisphere” makes it sound as if it could be referring to the south pole and Antarctica. The nuance which you may be unaware of is that the evidence of glaciation for which the Permian was contrived is equatorial. Yes, there’s abundant evidence that glaciers once extended North and South from the equator.
That’s all designed to mold the evidence to fit the SciPop narrative of godless existence. However, on Earth there are no millions of years. Noah’s flood took place about 4,350 years ago. We can deduce that the Permian and Pleistocene ice ages are the same thing.
Creationists struggle to come to terms with the ice ages. Their literature has some really flaky ideas about how they came about as the result of increased volcanism. The answer is staring us in the face. It’s obvious when we use some simple deduction to resolve the issue. It’s an application of hypothesis 22.
There’s evidence of a retreat of global ice which makes it clear that ice cover at the poles and the equator were once extensive. Substantial cooling of the Earth must have taken place after Noah’s flood. Evaporation causes cooling. Therefore, something must have happened which caused the waters of the flood to evaporate. If this is the case, then there should be a passage of scripture which explicitly states this.
Predictive Testable Hypothesis 22
- IF the Holy spirit is the power of God to inspire human writers,
- AND the physics of the universe has been encoded into scripture so that it’s
- obvious and
- invisible
- AND the physics of the universe has been encoded into scripture so that it’s
- THEN phrases or words that look like biology, chemistry, geology or physics should be treated as if they are biology, chemistry, geology or physics
- AND the science will be congruent with the scriptural context.
Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

August 13th – Equatorial Glaciation
After Noah’s flood a wind caused the waters to evaporate. Evaporation causes cooling. This caused the formation of equatorial and polar ice.
