The Sons of Noah

The sons of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. The sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. The sons of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.

(Genesis 10:2-4) NKJV

The time between Noah’s flood and Peleg’s tectonics was when the dispersal from Babel took place. From Babel small family groups spread out, figuratively speaking, to the ends of the Earth.

It is worth noting that some people like to use this phrase to support the notion that the Earth is flat. Likewise people like to use the phrase the four corners of the Earth this way too. The ends of the Earth is simply the coast. The four corners of the Earth may be a euphemism for North, East, South and West.

The thing about this phrase is that it only occurs in the description of the Millennial Kingdom. In this case the land surface may actually be square and have corners, but it’s on the surface of a spherical Earth.

The Bible gives us the genealogy of the descendants of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah’s sons.

Of particular interest in the second generation of the descendants of Japheth is the name Tarshish.

Tarshish also occurs in the book of Jonah as the place to which he attempted to escape to.

It’s is a city in Southern Spain.
