Eber lived thirty-four years, and begot Peleg. After he begot Peleg, Eber lived four hundred and thirty years, and begot sons and daughters. Peleg lived thirty years, and begot Reu. After he begot Reu, Peleg lived two hundred and nine years, and begot sons and daughters.
(Genesis 11:16-19) NKJV
It’s possible to be precise with the timing of the tectonic breakup of Pangaea. The time-lapse from Noah’s flood to Peleg, and from Peleg to Abraham is recorded in Genesis 11:10-26.
Babel gives us a data point before the breakup of Pangaea. Peleg gives us the day that it happened. It is logical to conclude that Pangaea broke up on the day that Peleg was born, that’s why he was called Peleg.
The Time Span from Noah’s Flood to Peleg (Genesis 11:10-26)
- Arphaxad was born 2 years after the flood,
- He was 35 at the birth of Selah,
- Selah was 30 at the birth of Eber,
- Eber was 34 at the birth of Peleg,
- 2 + 35 + 30 + 34 = 101 Years
