The Life of Isaiah

The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

(Isaiah 1:1) NKJV

The information that we have suggests that Isaiah was an old man at the time of his death. He saw Jerusalem dwindle in prosperity and fall from powerful to vulnerable.

If Isaiah was born at the beginning of the reign of Uzziah then he would have been 35 when the meteorite struck and he started his ministry. If he died shortly after prophesying to Hezekiah ,that the Lord was going to miraculously deliver Jerusalem from the Assyrians, then he would have been about 100 years old when he died.

– The Career of the Prophet Isaiah.

The reason why this is interesting is because it’s one of those odd things that we (that’s me and the Holy spirit) feel may be a type of revelation from the Holy Spirit. This isn’t a prophecy which we have by divine revelation that has to be delivered to someone, it’s more like what Simeon experienced regarding the birth of Christ.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lordโ€™s Christ.

(Luke 2:25-26) NKJV

When we use we or other personal pronouns in italics it means me, Matty, and we are aware of two things which we feel may be personal revelation from the Holy Spirit.

The first is that when we were a little kid, essentially pure before we got corrupted by the world, we were absolutely sure that we would be here alive on the Earth when the Lord Jesus returns.

The second is that the life of the prophet Isaiah may be a parallel to what we are going to experience before the Lord returns. Isaiah watched a powerful and prosperous international power state become the equivalent of a broken down cottage in a desolate wasteland.

We remember the United States during the Clinton Presidency which was probably the pinnacle of it’s prosperity. We’ve been aware of this revelation and the possible parallel with Isaiah since we became familiar with his life and career and we’ve been vigilantly watching the fortunes of the USA since then. We’ve figured for a long time that there would be successive natural disasters which would render the USA defenseless until it’s enemies were almost able to take control.

The thing about COVID-19 is that most people still think that there’s an afterwards at which time things will return to some semblance of normality. Given what we believe about how the Holy Spirit works, we think that it would be wise to consider the possibility that things are going to get successively worse and they’ll never be the same again.

But it’s not a prophecy, just a feeling.
