A Pearl of Great Price

The Kingdom of heaven is like this. A man happens to find a treasure hidden in a field. He covers it up again, and is so happy that he goes and sells everything he has, and then goes back and buys that field.

“Also, the Kingdom of heaven is like this. A man is looking for fine pearls, and when he finds one that is unusually fine, he goes and sells everything he has, and buys that pearl.

Matthew 13:44-46

Temperance and Forbearance

Self-control and Endurance

God’s divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly religious life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own glory and goodness. In this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature. For this very reason do your best to add goodness to your faith; to your goodness add knowledge; to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add endurance; to your endurance add godliness; to your godliness add Christian affection; and to your Christian affection add love. These are the qualities you need, and if you have them in abundance, they will make you active and effective in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:3-8

Midrashim

Google image search results for "foundations of the earth" showing an image by Matty as the fourth result

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

(Psalms 139:16) NKJV

When we (that’s me and the Holy spirit) tell people that we believe that the sun orbits the Earth, few people make it past their incredulity. Of those who do, most respond by saying that the sun’s mass makes this impossible.

Biology

Gender symbols as stylized molecules

And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

(Luke 10:27) ESV

First cause gives us the origin of gender which is as elemental as the particles of which matter is composed, and as fundamental as their electric charges.

Chemistry

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

(John 1:1-2) ESV

The Holy Trinity can be written as a chemical formula. As blasphemous as this may seem, at first, there’s a major problem with it: IT WORKS as a plan for the particle physics of the universe.

Physics

Stylalized ball-and-stick water molecule

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

(Genesis 1:1-2) ESV

We can take what we deduced about Alpha and Omega to find first cause. This is the reason why the universe exists. It’s also the origin of the deep, a body of water which predates creation.

First Cause and Effect

  • IF Alpha, male, God the father
    • AND Omega, female, God the Holy Spirit
  • THEN Alpha and Omega, neuter, the only begotten, God the Son, Jesus Christ

300 Foxes

Pairs of foxes with burning tails run through standing corn

So Samson went and caught 300 foxes and took torches. And he turned them tail to tail and put a torch between each pair of tails. And when he had set fire to the torches, he let the foxes go into the standing grain of the Philistines and set fire to the stacked grain and the standing grain, as well as the olive orchards.

(Judges 15:4-5) ESV

It would take a lot of work to catch 300 foxes. How many could one catch on a good day? 3? 4? We should consider that assembling 300 foxes was months of work.
