I need to make a short departure from the normal progression through the creative work of the sixth day to address something that, at first, I was quite excited about, but then found out that it wasn’t what I was expecting. Someone helpfully let me know that a YouTube video had been posted which, in their words:
Ha, you just got destroyed on YouTube by Martymer 81. Congratulations.

I have to say I was thrilled. There are times when it feels as if no one’s paying attention. When someone goes to the trouble of posting a video that supposedly destroys me, it means that people are paying attention.
I watched about 2 minutes during which I saw nothing but a denial of the fact that the theoretical foundation of popular science (SciPop) requires faith. My heart sank. This means that Martymer 81 is not capable of independent thought, and therefore, I assumed that the video is simply another presentation of the same SciPop propaganda that no one has bothered to think through.
We had a short exchange on Twitter during which I decided that the least I could do is watch the whole video, since, after all, he went to so much trouble to make it.
I made it to 8:32 and he still hasn’t said anything remotely scientific, so at this point I am done (the video is 24:02 minutes long!).
I am disappointed.
Maybe he finally gets around to lining up the usual suspects of stellar parallax, the phases of Venus, the moons of Jupiter and all of the other things that people think prove heliocentricity but don’t. I may never know, because I can’t imaging being able to make it to the end of the video.
Be that as it may, the point at which scripture comes into this event is that this poor fellow, who is seeking and obtaining validation of himself through YouTube views and subscribers, has set himself up as a possible hindrance to someone coming to understand Matty’s Paradigm as an explanation of the truth of the Bible. Someone is going to get saved because of Matty’s Paradigm. Someone else is going to be hindered from being saved by Martymer 81. Does he, and the menagerie of others like him, really understand the eternal significance of what they are doing?
Jesus has some frighteningly stern words for those who would hinder others from coming to knowledge of the truth. Sadly, these same people think it’s just a big joke. It would be BETTER if they had a millstone tied around their neck and were thrown in the ocean. I’d say that’s pretty bad. If that’s the favorable option then what is the unfavorable one?
On the one hand it would be fun to have an argument about Galileo and Newton, but Martymer 81’s presentation and delivery mean that this is never going to happen because I don’t intend to waste my life watching the video.
God is real. Hell is real. This creation has a specific purpose: the permanent physical separation of light from dark, good from evil. Presently you are on the wrong side of the equation, which is your choice, but you’re at risk of contributing to the fall of others.
