Setteth fast: מֵכִ֥ין – mechin

Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:

(Psalms 65:6) KJV

Once of our gravity concepts which is part of the core accretion model of the 2nd day of creation.

Setteth fast: מֵכִ֥ין – mechin

  • To be low or humiliated, Ps. 65:6,
  • he hath established, Jer. 10:12.

This is a word which, it appears, scholars have had a hard time with. It’s assignment to the root kun makes conceptual sense, but the spelling doesn’t. A more parsimonious assignment, closer is spelling and based on the doctrine of gravity (the core accretion model) is makak.
