But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
(Genesis 2:17) KJV
Why was there a tree of knowledge of good and evil if God had created a perfect world? God didn’t create a perfect world, he created a corrupted one. Now we can understand the difference between corruption and sin.
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned –
(Romans 5:12) NKJV
When the creation was absolutely fresh there had been no disobedience. It was corrupted, but no one had disobeyed any commands. However, there was going to be a moment when the first disobedience occurred, the first manifestation of free will. At this point the world enters its decline. This is what God warned Adam about when he created him in the garden of Eden:
Adam was told that he would die of dying and the process of biological senescence began.

June 25 – Dying You Shall Die
“in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Adam didn’t drop dead the moment that he ate the fruit, he lived for 900+ years. Is this a contradiction?
His body, specifically his cells, began to wear out. This meant that they had to be replaced. Cell replacement is only possible through cell division and this isn’t 100% accurate. Transcription errors and mutations occur, gene function is compromised, normal metabolism slows down and aging occurs.

July 4th – It Was Very Good
The fall of man and the corrupted state of creation aren’t the same thing. The universe had to be created in a corrupted state so that the fall of man could take place.
