And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
(Revelation 12:9, 12) KJV
When God created Adam he said this about the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil: “… you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” However, as we know, when Adam ate the fruit he didn’t immediately drop dead. Adam was cursed and he began dying, God’s plan was in effect, but the outward appearance was that nothing had happened.
This must have seemed like the perfect opportunity for Satan to rebel against the authority of God and not suffer any consequences. Satan seizes upon this opportunity. It looks to him, and the rest of the host of heaven, as if God’s rule has not only been challenged but the anticipated consequences have been averted.
It was a critical error of judgement on the part of Satan. This may be difficult to grasp. For centuries Satan has been depicted as a mastermind who changed the course of history. The reality is, the course of history didn’t change, it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. Satan is a pawn.
As a result he was cast out of heaven. This is the first part of the ongoing purification of creation: removing impurity and corruption from heaven.

July 11th – War in Heaven
The dispensation of conscience, when man was banished from the garden of Eden, included the purification of heaven. This is what Satan unwittingly accomplished with his rebellion and banishment to Earth.
