Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
(Matthew 27:45) KJV
Another picture that we have which is part of the symbolism of Christ on the cross is that darkness came upon the world in the middle of the day. Things on Earth are patterned after things in the heavens.
It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
(Hebrews 9:23) KJV
If Christ’s suffering on the cross is a picture of the sacrifice made by the bonding together of H+ and ΩO2-, then what could the darkness at his death be but a picture of the state of the universe in Genesis 1:2?
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
(Genesis 1:2) KJV

January 5th – Darkness
If God is light, in whom is no darkness at all, then how could there be darkness upon the face of the deep?
