Epistemology

When pride comes, then comes shame; But with the humble is wisdom.

(Proverbs 11:2) NKJV

The intellectual tragedy of our generation is a failure to understand what evidence is and how it’s used, and the resulting misconception about what constitutes knowledge. The theory of knowledge is called epistemology.

Hitchens’s Razor

Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.

(Proverbs 16:18 ) NKJV

Hitchens’s razor is one of the most popular atheist deities. It’s the intellectual equivalent of putting your thumbs in your ears and wiggling your fingers while sticking your tongue out. It’s regarded as intellectual high ground from which “scientists” can automatically dismiss anything said by a person of faith.

The Nature Of The Soul

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

(Matthew 7:7-8) KJV

Science says that the soul doesn’t exist because it can’t be detected. But science doesn’t know what it can’t detect, because it can’t detect it. What if science can detect the soul, but doesn’t know it?

Thoughts And Intents

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

(Hebrews 4:12) KJV

If all of our impurity and corruption are in our heart, and gravity was created to attract all of the impurity and corruption of creation, is the heart a created instance of gravity? Logic says yes.

Locating The Soul

And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

(Mark 12:3) KJV

The soul as our personality and self-awareness has the attributes of heart, soul and mind. Can we examine these attributes and get a better understanding of what the soul is and where it is located?

Mainstream Science (SciPop) is Broken

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

(Ezekiel 22:30) KJV

IF God can’t find a man to stand in the gap, but he sent prophets who completed their ministries, then the prophets weren’t sent to stand in the gap. They were sent to warn that there was a gap.

The Wisdom Of Their Wise Men Shall Perish

Isaiah 29:13-16

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

If science is right then there is no God.
Therefore there is no judgment for sin.
Therefore I can do whatever I want and have no guilt.
For some reason the logic doesn’t work.

Mind The Gap

And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none.

(Ezekiel 22:30) ESV
  1. Hedge What is the hedge?
  2. Edge The hedge has an edge. Why does the hedge need making up?
  3. Wedge We need a wedge to fix the hedge.
  4. Pledge What’s our role?

Science Falsely So Called

1 Timothy 6:20-21

O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen. {The first to Timothy was written from Laodicea, which is the chiefest city of Phrygia Pacatiana.

Science is a belief system that is so ingrained in the people of our time that they mistakenly believe that they don’t believe it, it just is.

Is The Bible Literal Or Figurative?

John 4:7-14

There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

I believe that the literal parts should be taken literally, but the figurative parts should not. So how do we know what parts of the Bible are literal and which are figurative?
