What does Soul Refer to?

Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

(Ezekiel 18:27) KJV

The word soul occurs 458 times in the King James Version of the Bible. The majority of these references are references to the person as an individual. It’s as if the word soul could be used interchangeably with any personal pronoun.

Doggie Heaven?

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

(Revelation 22:14-15) KJV

Spiritual Reins

{A Psalm of David.} Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide. Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.

(Psalms 26:1-3) KJV

The kidneys, referred to in the Bible as reins, regulate our physiology. They filter out the spirits which God sends to us as messengers. They’re a way in which God has put a bridle on us, by which we can be steered and controlled.

The Life is In the Blood

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

(Leviticus 17:11) KJV

A spirit from God, literally breath, gives life to our body by energizing metabolism through the action of the hemoglobin molecule. We can deduce that blood is the seat of the spirit, not the soul.
