After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. (Revelation 7:9-10) KJV
The Left Behind books and movies are an example of gross mis-handling of scripture. Christians are taught that anyone left behind has lost their opportunity to repent and escape the judgement of God.

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.(2 Thessalonians 2:3-4) NKJV
The pre-tribulation rapture is a load of dingo’s kidneys. Christians and the Church will be on the Earth during six of the seven plagues that are part of the tribulation.

And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.(Revelation 7:9-10, 13-14) KJV
A great multitude is saved out of great tribulation because the Church, Christians, are still here as an effective witness to the saving grace of God.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.(Matthew 24:29-31) KJV
Jesus’ words in the gospels of Matthew and Mark appear to say that the elect will be gathered up after the tribulation is over. Well, mostly over. Six of the seven trumpets counts as mostly over.

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. (Revelation 9:4) KJV
During the plague of the 5th trumpet when horse-sized armor-plated locusts swarm out of the Earth it’s said that they won’t hurt those who have the seal of God on their foreheads.

The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.(Revelation 10:5-6) NKJV
There will be seven trumpets which initiate the plagues of the tribulation. Six of them will have sounded before the seventh and final trumpet sounds.

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.(1 Corinthians 15:52) KJV
The word translated caught up in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 is ἁρπαγησόμεθα – harpagēsometha. Correct us if we’re wrong but this doesn’t look remotely like the word rapture. This event is in 1 Corinthians 15:52 where we have a word which does resemble rapture:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) KJV
Most mainstream evangelical or conservative Christian pastors preach something called the pre-tribulation rapture. It’s a load of dingo’s kidneys.

Wines on the Lees
And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.(Isaiah 25:6-8) KJV
Anyone who survives the tribulation will live in peace on the Lord’s holy mountain, build a shelter, plant a grape vine, and enjoy the good things of life. You just have to survive.
