Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.”(John 6:53-58) NKJV
Jesus is undeterred, at this point all the hard work is done. What needed to be said has been said. He summarizes again. Jesus is speaking plainly about the transformation of energy, not cannibalism.

One aspect of the soul is the heart which is, among other things, our drive and motivation. Another aspect of the soul is the mind which is our ability to reason. Physically the heart is a pump that drives blood, the mind is a brain.

Characteristics of the Heart
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.(Hebrews 4:12) KJV
We (that’s me and the Holy spirit) are investigating attributes of life in order to deduce its nature. The soul is distinct from the spirit: the spirit is the essence of life which powers metabolism, the soul is our self-awareness and personality.
