Creation was corrupted before Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden. It was created in a corrupted state in order to manifest free will. We can prove it using a process we call deductive questioning.

We’ve introduced gravity as the mechanism by which the creation will be purified and how light will be separated from darkness. Gravity was created on the second day. Matter, space and time existed before that.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel. Curds and honey He shall eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings.
(Isaiah 7:14-16) NKJV
People use this passage to support the idea that children begin life in a state of innocence, however, it’s not clear why. Before a child knows how to refuse evil and choose good they would do either with no regard for the consequence. This doesn’t make them innocent, it makes them vulnerable. That’s why a child has to be protected and shown what’s right and wrong.

The creation of gravity caused the majority of the darkness and corruption in the universe to accumulate at the center of creation. This became the body of the Earth. The majority of light and purity accumulated in heaven.

Why was there a tree of knowledge of good and evil if God had created a perfect world? God didn’t create a perfect world, he created a corrupted one. Now we can understand the difference between corruption and sin.

We live in a world which is inherently corrupt, and we’re not talking about money and finance, we’re talking entropy and nuclear decay. It’s as fundamental to our makeup as proton and neutrons. Protons are light, neutrons are darkness. That’s how deep the corruption is.

Jesus was asked why he didn’t stop his disciples from eating before they had washed their hands. He was very direct in pointing out that we’re not defiled by what we put into our mouths, even if our hands are dirty. We’re defiled by what comes out of our mouths, and that starts in the corruption of our heart.
