The Wolf and the Lamb

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

(Isaiah 11:6-9) KJV

How much do you love animals? Enough to become a Christian and pray for the return of Jesus Christ so that herbivores can finally be safe from their predators? Predators will become vegetarian.

On the Lord’s Holy mountain the knowledge of the Lord fills the land as the waters cover the sea because the habitable surface of the Earth is in the shape of one large mountain and the summit is visible from every location.

The summit is the city of Jerusalem where the temple is situated. But look at what else is happening here, it’s the beautiful but enigmatic image of a change in animal predator/prey relationships. Peace will be so profoundly established in God’s Holy mountain that carnivorous diets will no longer be necessary.

The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.

(Isaiah 65:25) KJV

Carnivores, the top of the natural food chain, will be eating straw. Nothing, not even the smallest species of herbivore, will have to spend its life constantly looking over its shoulder to see if there is danger near. This tells us a lot about the so-call natural order of our world today. God didn’t create animals to eat each other. What we see today, that are thought of as supposedly natural ecosystems, are really a picture of the war between light and darkness playing out at every scale of the natural world. From atoms and molecules through to the cosmological objects, the fallen nature of our world is apparent. The original sin, human rebellion, is the reason why there are predators and prey.

It is ironic that the progressive liberal agenda hasn’t attacked this yet. If you have to be green, eco-friendly, vegetarian/vegan, drive a hybrid, and adopt from the animal shelter to be really cool and conscientious these days, why isn’t there a political movement to stop carnivores from eating herbivores? Let’s face it, what gives a Lion the right to tear into a herd of Gazelles and start ripping them apart? It needs to be stopped.

Of course this would never happen for a very simple reason, the world worships the creature more than the creator, as we are told by Paul:

Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

(Romans 1:25) KJV
