The Foundations of the World
Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
(Psalms 18:15) KJV
We (that’s me and the Holy spirit) illustrate a difference between the Hebrew erets (earth), and tebel (world). The foundations of the world (tebel) refers to the crust and mantle which was exposed as the ocean floor.
We have another nuance of meaning which we can only resolve by looking at the original languages and relating them to their context. Are the foundations (plural) of the world the same as the foundations of the earth? We previously identified the foundation (singular) of the world as an act of conception which begat God the son as the deep. The foundations of the earth refer to the gravitational singularity that was created on the second day.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.
– Matty’s Razor
We find that the occurrences of variations of foundation(s) of the world/earth may be grouped based on the different Hebrew and Greek words that have been used.
Foundation of the Earth/World (Greek)
Usage | Transliteration | Concept | Scripture |
Foundation of the earth | gēn ethemeliōsas | Accumulated sediment | Heb. 1:10 |
Foundation of the world | katabolé kosmou | Conception | Mat. 13:35 Rev. 13:8 |
These different word combinations resolve perfectly with three different contexts.
Foundation(s) of the Earth/World (context)
- the foundation of the world (Greek, singular)
- first cause, conception
- before God said let light be,
- the act of conception which begat God the Son.
- first cause, conception
- the foundation(s) of the earth (Hebrew)
- gravitational singularity
- the creative act of the second day,
- the inception of the core accretion model.
- gravitational singularity
- the foundations of the world (Hebrew, plural)
- the earth’s crust and mantle,
Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.

Context
And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
(2 Samuel 22:16) KJV
Today’s passage from the Psalms is a restatement of this passage from 2 Samuel. It’s an excerpt from a prayer that King David prayed after surviving a series of battles with his enemies. He was giving thanks to God for protection and deliverance. The prayer refers to miraculous acts of God which were taught as part of the history of the children of Israel. This is a reference to parting the Red Sea when the Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt.
This being the case, then the foundations of the world (tebel) was the exposed ocean floor that the children of Israel walked across to escape the Egyptian army. The foundations of the earth (erets) in our model is the core not the mantle. It’s below the lower mantle and separated from it by the great gulf. They could not be seen exposed as the ocean floor.
For the purposes of our model this makes it synonymous with the foundations of the hills, the foundations of the mountains and what we saw Jonah refer to as the bottoms of the mountains.

foundations of the mountains | וּמוֹסְדֵ֣י הָרִ֣ים | mowcadah har | Deut. 32:22 |
foundations of the world | מוֹסְד֪וֹת תֵּ֫בֵ֥ל | mowcadah tebel | Psalms 18:15 |

- believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
- confess your sin.
Examples
Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
(Psalms 18:7) KJV
Here are some examples of usage which are compatible with our assignment of these features to the crust and mantle. This one describes an earthquake.
Below we have our main statement that the expansion of hell is the cause of global warming. The molten core (hell) is expanding which causes the lower mantle (foundations of the world) to melt. This gives us a Biblical explanation for climate change and the increased frequency and severity of earthquakes and volcanic activity.
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
(Deuteronomy 32:22) KJV
