Loosing Control

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

Christian leadership is fighting a loosing battle to stay in control of everything from political power to reproductive rights. They haven’t realized that they’re fighting for a way of life which is becoming illegal.

Can we, the church, adapt to become a vessel which can carry the gospel forward which neither needs to be controlled nor desires any control? Portions of this post were part of a message preached on October 16, 2019 and it’s the message that led to us getting kicked out of a church.

This isn’t the first time that we’ve been in a situation like this. Our experience is parallel to the ministries of Jeremiah and Jesus. Jeremiah preached to the religious and political leadership of his time and wound up at the bottom of a latrine, up to his armpits in human waste. Jesus confronted the established religious leadership with such stunning effectiveness that they handed him over to be murdered.

We’re hoping for a softer landing than that but there’s no reason to expect it. That being said, handling this kind of thing still needs to be done in a sensitive and careful way. We’re building a doctrine of creation and the fall which harmonizes science with the Bible in a precisely logical way such that we can see the gospel patterned within particle physics. In so doing we expose some weak areas in established Christian doctrine which are resolved by understanding the physics of fundamental forces and particles.

Is hell at the center of the Earth and is heaven on the edge of space? Our answer to both is YES. For the most part you’ll be lucky to get anything but waffle from Christian leadership. It’s not their fault, their theology has adapted to give Christians a way to understand the Bible from within the popular science paradigm (SciPop). Has the time come to expose the flaws in this paradigm and set the people of God free?

Christian leadership can’t hear it, it’s like a dog whistle at a frequency too high for them. They got so lost at the bottom of the SciPop rabbit hole that they’re trying to make Donald Trump their king. The creationism schism between remodelers and reconstructers is an example of how meaningless their presence has become. They’re both wrong because neither group has a model of the internal structure of the Earth which has either hell or a great gulf. Try to talk to them about the theory of Biblical gravitation, which makes it possible for hell to be at the center of the Earth, and they instinctively form up in lock-step with SciPop and treat us as the enemy.

We’ve reached out to leaders with an offer to help overcome issues which are easily dealt with, like evolution and plate tectonics, or the mass of the sun, only to see leadership act like whiny snowflakes and start playing the victim card. Perhaps it’s supposed to be. Perhaps now isn’t the time. Perhaps we should just stop trying. Why don’t we just stop? We would if we could. Except that we can’t.

O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me. For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily. Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name.
