From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.(1 Timothy 1:6-7) KJV
Jesus warned us about hell as the place where unrepentant souls suffer torment. We’re supposed to tell the world that Jesus is the way to redeem our souls and avoid hell. That’s when you encounter this:
“There’s no such thing as a soul because science can’t detect it.”– Atheist Science Troll
If science can’t detect it then it doesn’t exist. Gravitational waves were first detected in September 2015. According to SciPop rationale, before that they didn’t exist.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.– Matty’s Razor
This rhetoric crops up on social media quite frequently. The soul is undetectable by mainstream science (SciPop) which is why scientists dismiss the possibility that it exists. Finding a way to respond to this drove the development of what we believe the soul is in Matty’s Paradigm. In brief, it goes like this:
It’s obviously ridiculous but it illustrates one of the major problems we face: people who claim to be advocates of a scientific world-view don’t know anything about science. They’re scientifically illiterate science worshipers (SISWs). It’s related to the atheist science troll (AST) although those are folk who have a general clue about science, they just don’t understand the relationship between evidence and faith.
Science doesn’t know what it can’t detect. For instance, it’s only been possible to detect gravitational waves since 2015, but everyone understands that gravity exists. Einstein predicted gravitational waves 100 years ago and instead of having the attitude “science can’t detect them so therefore they don’t exist,” science set about detecting them.
If gravitational waves have always existed but they’re only now detectable, what else can’t SciPop detect? SciPop doesn’t know what it can’t detect because it can’t detect it. What if the soul is somehow made of gravity? This is the definition which we’ve deduced.
A soul is a gravity node with a frequency unique to each individual, it encompasses the scriptural concepts of mind and heart:– Soul, definition
– mind: the seat of our consciousness and personality;
– heart: the emotions and passion which drive and motivate us.
Our soul makes us sentient.
