But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

If a god is something that people believe will take care of them and make sure that they’re okay, then the god of this age is popular science (SciPop). SciPop is telling everyone that there’s no God, no heaven, no hell, nothing to worry about.
Most people would probably assume that the god of this age is Satan. The thing is, satan means adversary. Satan is also known to be a liar, the father of all lies. If SciPop excludes the possibility that the Bible is literally true then it’s a lie. The lie is in opposition to, the adversary of, knowledge of the truth. Therefore, SciPop is satan, it’s that simple.
