The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(2 Peter 3:9) KJV
It’s hard to find a pastor or preacher these days who has the guts to make a clear statement about the reality of hell. What’s ironic is that the pastors and preachers, for their part, don’t think it has anything to do with guts.
As far as they’re concerned it’s an intellectual dead end and they’ve been tasked with finding a way to show their flocks that despite the fact that the doctrine of hell is extensively developed in the Bible, it’s not talking about hell at all. Christian leadership has capitulated with popular science (SciPop) en mass and as a result they teach spaghetti theology.

Spaghetti Syndrome
In Matty’s Paradigm we have to show that most theology is a product of the spaghetti syndrome.
Their problem, they think, is that torment in hell doesn’t fit the politically correct “tolerant” version of God that they’re peddling on social media, and, more to the point, they believe that SciPop has shown that there’s no hell. As a result they have tried to use apologetics to destroy any connection between what the Bible says and our physical reality.
“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
(Matthew 7:26-27) NKJV
Unfortunately SciPop hasn’t lived up to its expectations. It’s the shifting sand that Jesus warned us about, and it’s what the house of spaghetti theology has been built on. The problem evaporates if hell is a functional part of a process of refinement and cleansing which is congruent with the broad narrative of scripture. It’s lost in the rear view mirror of history when we take the paltry shreds of science which have been woven into the SciPop narrative of godless existence, and show how they prove that hell is at the center of the Earth.
