Evolution is an extensively documented process of genetic change over time. Arguing against it makes WE Christians look like ignorant home-schooled, knuckle-dragging morons. Sorry for being blunt, that’s just how it is.

But hey, we’re Christian (that’s me and the Holy Spirit), we’re active on social media, and we’ve heard a lot worse than that. As abrasive as this description of Christians may be it’s what you can expect to hear on social media if you attempt to discuss evolution-based subject matter from the traditional perspective.

If you can’t handle this kind of abuse then don’t go onto social media.

There are many definitions of Evolution in use by the scientific community. Here’s the most boiled-down variant possible, literally bare-bones but fully functional:

Evolution is change in allele frequency in a population over time.

The evidence for evolution is everywhere, it’s happening on a daily basis. Some Christians are finally getting on board with the idea that adaptation is taking place. Adaptation is their word for what everyone else calls evolution. Some people want to squirm around a distinction between micro and macro evolution but it’s pointless. Get over it Christian, it’s not where the real battle is.

The nuance that we need to understand is that even though the evidence for evolution, according to the above definition, is extensively documented it’s not proof of the evolutionary origin of humanity. Divide and conquer. The thing which we have called evolution is, like so many other things, a mixture of truth and error.

The nuance is embodied in the Axioms and Principles of Principia Mattymatica. We’ve accepted the distinction between abiogenesis and evolution and incorporate them as creation vs. decay, which pivot on the fall of man in Genesis 3.
