There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
(1 Corinthians 15:40-41) Good News Translation
Galileo was one of the first to popularize the idea that stars are distant suns. He was trying to explain why he couldn’t measure the stellar parallax that he predicted would be there if heliocentricity was true.
The idea is that stars were so big, and therefore so far away, that the parallax wasn’t measurable even though it was there.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.
– Matty’s Razor
His prediction of parallax was based on his belief that the Earth orbits the sun (heliocentric). We’ve subsequently measured parallax so everyone thinks that Galileo was right. The theory is that the apparent motion of the stars is due to the relative motion of the Earth. It’s theoretical. That means it’s a leap of faith.
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
(2 Thessalonians 2:9-12) New King James Version
What is led to is the words sun and star being used as synonyms. Most reference material about our solar system describes the sun as a yellow dwarf star. This is the very essence of the strong delusion. As far as the Bible is concerned, there’s only one sun and it’s not a star. Stars are completely different.
Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.
– Faith, definition
He has decided the number of the stars
(Psalms 147:4) Good News Translation
and calls each one by name.
This may sound strange but let’s put it in empirical terms. The sun is a glowing ball of plasma which is so bright that looking directly at it could cause eye damage. The stars are minute specks of light in the night sky which are barely visible. They have nothing in common. That’s empirical. It may be too simple for the modern mind to comprehend.
The Bible makes it clear that there’s only one sun and it’s not a star. Christians have been avoiding this for a long time. Time’s up. In the Matty’s Paradigm Biblical cosmology Earth is at the center. Parallax is the observed motion of the stars because the stars are moving. It’s empirical.
Sun/star synonymy is so powerful that it’s considered to be a major deity in the atheist pantheon and we give it it’s own treatment in the post for July 29th. Sun/star synonymy is intended to make it appear that the fulfillment of prophecy about the stars falling to Earth is impossible.
