Salvation: There’s an app for that, right?

In my experience atheist science trolls (ASTs) have very little knowledge of their subjects. When challenged to explain the rationale for the basic foundations of their beliefs they can’t. When pushed to provide some shred of evidence that they actually understand what science is and where it came from there is one particular response that comes up time and time again:

“Science is true because it works.”

My friend, the fact that science works doesn’t prove anything other than the internal logic of a false paradigm is consistent.

Most people take the fact that we landed a space craft on a comet as proof that science is right about Heliocentricity. However, because of the way that Math works, specifically Newton’s law of gravity and the inverse square law, the gravitational calculations involved in the space flight are still accurate whether the Earth orbits the Sun or the Sun orbits the Earth. Of course, as soon as you explain Newton to a troll they start spouting about Relativity, as if Newton is now irrelevant and Einstein fixed everything. Little do they know that Einstein just covered all of Galileo, Kepler and Newton’s shortcomings with indecipherable fudge. It’s meaningless. To summarize the last 400 years of astrophysical science:

  1. Kepler didn’t get it.
  2. Galileo lied.
  3. Newton used circular reasoning.
  4. Einstein went off the deep end trying to straighten it out.
  5. Hawking substituted Science Fiction for real knowledge.

In the alternaive, Matty’s Paradigm, where the Sun orbits the Earth, the mass of the Sun is a fraction of what it is thought to be, but the masses of all the other planets are also relatively smaller. The planetary bodies have exactly the same gravitational relationships to each other. A space probe can’t tell the difference. Mathematically the two models are the same except on completely different scales. The gravitational interaction between the planetary bodies and our satellites are no different. The models used by NASA and other space agencies are designed to fit our observations: they don’t define the universe. However, atheist science trolls automatically assume that the existence of the concept of Heliocentricity automatically precludes any other possibility.

This simplistic attitude is very common. Pretty much everyone these days thinks that the iPhone is so cool that they couldn’t possibly be in danger of hell fire. It could be said that the success of technology has allowed us to abdicate responsibility for our spiritual lives, figuring that science has eliminated spiritual problems.

And herein lies the big problem: Don’t kid yourself that science has dispelled the spiritual danger we all face. Hell is real. As a matter of fact, hell is expanding and it is the cause of global warming.

There is only one way to escape: trust in the savior, Jesus Christ.

As confusing as what I’m teaching you about science may be there is something important to remember: You don’t need any science to be saved from hell and receive the free gift of everlasting life. Salvation is so simple that a little child can understand:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:9-13)

And don’t forget perhaps the greatest Bible passage of them all:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. (John 3:16,17)

The Watchman

I’m not here to judge you or anyone else, I don’t know what is in your heart: only God does.

My concern is that death is not the sweet nothingness that modern science wants you to believe it is: the karmic return of our molecules and energy into the environment. Death is a physical end of the body, but our soul has to continue for ever.

If we knew Jesus Christ during our lifetime then we are purified, placed into a new body and we go on into eternity in the presence of almighty God. Those that rejected Christ will pass through death and awake to the horror of torment in hell. It’s not a pretty picture. There are times when I feel like apologizing for even writing the words. However the burden has been placed on me to want to reach out and deliver this message. If I know the truth and I have the ability to warn people but don’t do it: their blood will be on my hands. If I warn people and they reject me then I am not responsible for their outcome.

  1. Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
  2. Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
  3. If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
  4. Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
  5. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
  6. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.
  7. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
  8. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
  9. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. (Ezekiel 33:1-9)

It’s bleak, but you would be well served by reading in the Bible the last two chapters: Revelation 21 & 22. The glory that awaits us is beyond anything we can imagine 😃

Teamwork

One plants the seed, another waters, God reaps the increase. It’s a team effort.

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. ( 1 Corinthians 3:7-9)

The dominant paradigm of modern science is nothing more than a rationale for godless existence. On the one hand science is great because it produced the iPhone. On the other hand, the entire narrative of earth being an insignificant speck floating amongst billions of insignificant specks is a fabrication. The truth is that the Earth is at the center of God’s creation. Hell is real and you have to accept Jesus Christ in order to avoid it.

But here’s the thing: I can’t be responsible for convincing you, because I am a sinful human with an incomplete understanding.

All I have to do is preach Jesus Christ crucified and risen from the grave to new life. Jesus Christ, Almighty God in human flesh, died sacrificially to pay my debt of sin. If I trust in Him I can be cleansed, purified, and live forever in the presence of God.

My particular twist on this is all that other stuff about why science is a false paradigm that can’t save you from hell.

You can have new life too, by putting your faith in Jesus Christ. If you are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to work in your heart, you can understand your sinfulness and why you need a savior. Or you can harden your heart against the Holy Spirit.

I have given you the message I am supposed to give you. I’m not responsible for how you respond, but whatever your outcome will be, your blood is not on my hands.

This is not a joke.

Chapter 17

Carlton didn’t get far before he remembered that he had an appointment.  He had to make a service call on a unit at the University of Utah. He always enjoyed visiting campus.  Even though he had never been a student there he felt somehow connected to the youthful energy of the place.  That and the fact that from many parts of campus you could see Carlton’s neighborhood.

Every day when the library staff came to work they found that the computer was playing loud heavy metal music. Carlton recommended that his customers let their units listen to music, but rock ‘n’ roll, especially heavy metal, could be a problem. The units liked the pounding beat of rock because it increased performance.  The heavy vibrations generated so much electrical potential across the processor membranes that the speed was much faster. The problem was that the fast syncopated rhythms disrupted metabolic cycling rates. Chemical reactions that should run full course were continually interrupted, which caused hazardous by-products and free radicals to accumulate. These compounds wrought havoc on the membranes. Over time the units would become surly and uncooperative, just wanting to listen to more rock. It was like an addiction, plus unprofessional and embarrassing for Carlton.

This was the crux of Carlton’s innovation. The computer screen was the user interface, the lung, the power supply and a connection to other peripherals. It worked a bit like a speaker. The surface was a thin LED display. Layered behind this was the membrane that blood and water flowed on either side of. Sounds caused the whole structure to vibrate. This caused charged particles, sodium and other metal ions, to criss-cross the membrane, causing a change in electrical potential across it.  A host of other reactions then took place, it sped up the diffusion of oxygen and carbon dioxide, and it generated enough electrical current to charge a series of capacitors. In effect, when the terminal heard a sound, it powered the processor and charged the system.

The terminals not only heard sound, but could generate it. This was what the capacitors were for. In the opposite of what happened when the terminals heard sound, the capacitors charged the membrane to vibrate, and make sound. Information was input into the computer by simply having a conversation with it.

Behind each screen interface was another system, more like the synapses of nerves. This was also a membrane where electrically charged compounds, neurotransmitters, carried impulses from the user interface to a conventional computer and back. This could be any standard computer system connected to whatever hardware, peripherals and the bells and whistles that people needed. The whole structure was only 1/8 inch thick.  It was connected to a tower case which contained the artificial heart, liver and kidneys which kept the blood circulating.

Carlton set up a dialysis machine to clean the blood in the unit, administered a course of antioxidants, set up a music player to play soft classical music, and tried to console the customer.

“Classical music,” he was explaining, “not all, but most of it, is very helpful because of the ensembles of stringed instruments.” The customer was nodding appreciatively.

“Oh yes,” he went on, “sound complexity is very important.  A good symphony orchestra has so many violins and cellos going that there is much more stimulation to the membranes than with the heavy metal. But most importantly, the music is structured better, so you don’t get any build up of free radicals. Waltzes are the best. You know the one, two, three, one, two, three rhythm?  It’s like the beating of a heart.  Just let the unit have about a week of uninterrupted Strauss, and he’ll be good as new. Mendelssohn is pretty good, Fingal’s Cave, that sort of thing.” The customer was beaming.

“I’d stay away from Beethoven, though, it’s a short step from that to heavy metal. And definitely no Wagner. Call me if you need anything at all. I’ll check back in a couple of days.”

When Carlton left it was getting late. He had nothing to do though, so he drove south to check out the location of Rachel’s church.  It wasn’t much to look at, and he found himself instinctively driving to Salt City.  It was fully dark when he got there and checked in at the gate.  He figured on eating at a nice restaurant where he frequently ate lunch.  He would see what their dinner menu was like.  His route took him past the library. The lights on the ground floor were on. Someone was there, working. It bothered him that he didn’t know who it was or what was going on. What if Rachel were there doing something secret? He felt irritated and he knew he wouldn’t be able to enjoy a nice dinner out so he drove home via a fast food drive through.

The next day was bright and clear with an almost endless blue sky. A few clouds were moving in from the south but they were far away and not threatening. Being Sunday Carlton figured on sleeping late, so that he could say he missed church by accident. Instead he woke up early and spent the morning fretting about going or not going. His eagerness to have a chance to spend time with Rachel was equally balanced against his distaste for church. He shaved and tried three different outfits as he tormented himself over it. He dithered and fussed and preened and moped with his eye on the clock, until it was too late to get there on time. Eventually he wasted enough time to be able to say that he didn’t get up early enough. He hated the missed opportunity.

Should I Apologize?

I have been writing about the scientific validity of the Bible and the error inherent in modern scientific thought for many years. For a long time before I knew that it was a branch of Christian apologetics. This name has always confused me, although I know its technical meaning. However, I want to tell you what it means to me:

I think I should apologize.

  1. I apologize that you are going to hell if you don’t repent and accept Jesus Christ as your savior (I don’t make the rules).
  2. I apologize that the modern scientific explanation of human origins (the dominant paradigm) is a fake designed to condemn you to hell.
  3. I apologize that the scientific method has been meticulously constructed for the express purpose of keeping you in spiritual darkness.
  4. I apologize for trying to save you from eternal torment.
  5. I apologize for destroying the dominant paradigm with simple logic.
  6. I apologize for showing you that the theoretical foundation of your paradigm is a house of cards built on circular reasoning.
  7. I apologize that everyone thinks that Galileo, Kepler, Newton and Einstein proved heliocentricity. They didn’t.
  8. I apologize that Stephen Hawking used science to validate science fiction, but that’s definitely not my fault.
  9. I apologize for showing you that even though the process of evolution can account for the present diversity on earth, it is not the origin of humanity.
  10. I apologize that science has a dual nature, and just because you can have an iPhone doesn’t mean that you aren’t in danger of hell.
  11. I apologize for attacking the dominant paradigm, instead of just apologizing for mine.
  12. I apologize for having fun while I’m doing it.

If my ministry in any way contributes to your conversion and you repent and put your faith in Jesus Christ, when I see you in heaven, don’t expect me to apologize.

Chapter 16

Carlton’s house was strange to say the least. More than strange really, disturbing. Anyone of delicate sensibility who saw it may have been shocked, even horrified, because of its macabre appearance.  Carlton’s way of life revolved around building computers which circulate human blood. Naturally Carlton engineered his home to be run by such a system. On the face of it that would not be a bad thing, but the problem was that all of the blood tanks, aerator, pumps, filters and miles of tubing were exposed throughout the house.

Carlton was a skilled engineer, a gifted mechanic and even quite a talented carpenter. But he would not touch any job that involved cutting out and replacing sections of sheet rock. He would never dream of hiring anybody to do that kind of work either. As a result there were bundles of tubes carrying blood around the ceilings of all of the rooms, in the hallway and from room to room. A fish tank full of blood that had streams of tiny bubbles in it, which would have been very suitable for a quiet spot in a closet somewhere, was on display in the main living area of the house.

Carlton also thought of himself as very artistic, in that silently suffering way of someone who knew that they were under appreciated. When he had built the computer connections to each room he had intentionally left all of the hardware exposed, but, to his mind, had done something very arty with it. He built the plastic blood vessels and their support frame to look like vines weaving around a ladder-like structure. He was quite delighted with the effect, but to the uninitiated it looked alarmingly like a mess of entrails, as if some gigantic creature had been disembowelled by large pieces of crane rigging.

Then there was the smell. The cloying, coppery odour that is unmistakably blood. The smell that you hope isn’t what it smells like, because if it is what it smells like, then something very bad must have happened.

Luckily for Carlton he did not have any friends who visited, and there was no reason for a psychiatrist, psychologist or social worker to come anywhere near the house. If any of them had it would probably have been the beginning of an investigation and psychiatric evaluation of Mr. Carlton Feathers.

It was Saturday, and Carlton was going out for a leisurely brunch as usual. He was pondering Frank’s parting words and his thoughts came to Rachel. What was it she had said about going to church? He asked the car’s navigator for directions to Anchor Baptist Church, and found that it was in a southern suburb of Salt Lake City. It would take a while to get there. Still, it was a pretty day, with a sky so clear and blue that it looked like it went on forever. A ride into old town would be different, and it would be right about time for lunch when he got there. He would check out the location of the church, just in case.

He shook his head at his train of thoughts, and a flicker of concern warned him about going from contented bachelor to stalker in one leap. Forget Rachel, forget church, he should just stay out of it. Why was life so complicated? Why were even, what seemed like, little choices, now so laden with doubt? Whatever happened to the carefree days of youth? What was so bad about falling in love? These questions streamed through Carlton’s mind and he found himself driving to old town.

Global Warming? Hell is Expanding

Could climate change, or global warming, have anything to do with the fact that the Bible tells us that hell is increasing in size and will consume the earth?

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell (sheol), and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Deuteronomy 32:22)

Hell is a very confused mess these days. Most people are convinced that it is a myth that was invented by religion to ensure the compliance of uneducated people. A lot of folk think that is is a fun, exciting place where Satan is in charge, and where they will be able to enjoy carnal pleasure.

Satan is not in Hell. The Bible tells us that Satan, the Devil, walks the earth. His ultimate fate is to be cast into the Lake of Fire.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8)

Hardly anyone believes that hell is at the center of the earth which is odd, because no one knows what the interior of the earth is made of for sure. The deepest hole ever drilled is The Kola Superdeep Borehole on the Kola Penninsular in Russia. The deepest borehole in the project, SG-3, reached 12,262-metre-long (40,230 ft) in 1989 and still is the deepest artificial point on Earth.

The earth’s radius, the distance from the earth‘s center to its surface, is about 6,371 kilometers (3,959 mi). So the deepest hole ever dug is only 1.9% of the radius of the earth.

The Kola borehole reached 12,262 m (40,230 ft) in 1989. The hole depth was expected to reach 13,500 m (44,300 ft) by the end of 1990 and 15,000 m (49,000 ft) by 1993.[5][6] However, because of higher-than-expected temperatures at this depth and location, 180 °C (356 °F) instead of expected 100 °C (212 °F), drilling deeper was deemed infeasible and the drilling was stopped in 1992.[4] With the projected further increase in temperature with increasing depth, drilling to 15,000 m (49,000 ft) would have meant working at a temperature of 300 °C (570 °F), where the drill bit would no longer work.

Why is the earth’s interior hot? What is the source of the magnetic field? What is the core made of? No one knows, and no one can find out, for God has promised:

Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 31:37)

The Bible makes it perfectly clear that hell is down below in the earth and is very hot. However, hell was not made in the 6 days of creation. There was no reason for it. God created for 6 days and was satisfied with the result: it was good, very good. At some point after that there was a rebellion in heaven lead by Lucifer, or Satan, the Devil. Eventually The Devil and his angels were cast out of heaven to roam the earth. This is the origin of the serpent in the Garden of Eden who caused Adam and Eve to sin. The Devil and the angels that were cast out of heaven are the reason why hell was made.

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:(Matthew 25:41)

It would seem that at least some of them went about on the earth making great wickedness and mated with human women to cause a race of giants, or Nephilim, to arise. These angels were cursed for this by being bound by God with unbreakable chains.

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. (Jude 1:6)

The angels were bound within the earth, and God’s anger burned so hot that the core melted. This is the origin of hell. God originally intended for humans to live forever, there was no death before sin. Our souls are immortal, but because of the curse of sin, our bodies are not. This is why we need a saviour. What happens when a person dies? If they know God, meaning that they are saved or born again, they go to be with the Lord. Be assured God doesn’t want you or anyone to go to hell:

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (Peter 3:9)

But the fact is that some will. If a person dies without ever repenting and accepting Jesus Christ, they die in their sin and there is nowhere else for the soul to go but to hell.

Therefore hell (sheol) hath enlarged herself, and opened up her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. (Isaiah 5:14)

Hell is growing larger on account of the number of souls that are continually being added to it. It will consume the earth. Any wonder that we are experiencing global warming?

Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. (Isaiah 14:9)

It is time to admit that the nickle and diming going on about CO2 emissions, methane gas, deforestation and multitude of other issues that scientists like to latch on to are not the real cause of global warming. Hell is getting bigger.

I Want to Free Your Mind

When I was a kid the idea that the human race had evolved was still taught as a possibility. Folks were sometimes afraid to admit that they believed it because they understood it’s significance. It is the antidote to God, at least, that’s what people hoped, even if secretly. I was educated in a system that still taught the history of science and it’s milestones as they were passed. I was shown the evolution of thought as humanity began to be bolder and bolder about what they were ready to assert.

That is long gone now. Kids are taught that the evolutionary origin of humanity is real and that anyone who has a different opinion is either stupid or Christian, and therefore an idiot. Not only that but science has a slam dunk on earth being an insignificant speck orbiting an insignificant speck drifting through a vast cosmos.

What is tragic is that people are not taught that believing science is a choice, the equivalent to an act of faith, but it is. Millions upon millions of young people have been deceived into thinking that is just is. Science includes both truth and error. Truth gives us the iPhone, error sends you to hell because you believed the lies of science and rejected Jesus Christ. Evolution, for example, is really two things bundled together as one. On one hand, it is a well documented process of change over time. On the other hand it is revered as the origin of humanity. Truth and error, as there is in so many things.

Science is a prison for your mind. From within the prison freedom looks just as stupid as the Christian trying to help you.

The origin of the human race by evolution is impossible folks, simple as that. But if I give you the key to your prison, what will you do?

You know I love Science Fiction and the cultural icons that we all know. The comparison to “The Matrix,” is just about unavoidable here. Take the blue pill and stay in your prison, believe science and go to hell when your body dies. How does that sound?

Or, take the red pill and you can be free, understand the greatness of our God, trust in Jesus Christ, repent of your sin and have everlasting life.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

Who Wants to Attack Hell With Me?

I have a question for you. Specifically for any Christians out there: Who wants to attack hell with me? We have a responsibility to do this you know.

The Gates of Hell

Nobody believes in hell any more, right? So how is it that Jesus spoke of it frequently, and left us this intriguing passage:

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:17,18)

Where is the gate?

A gate is usually stationary. It’s the weak point in an otherwise solid barrier that is part of the defense of a location or place. Gates don’t move or go on the attack. On the contrary, if the gates of hell are not prevailing, then they must be under attack. So who is attacking the gates of hell, against which they will not prevail? The context of the passage tells us that it is the church. How many churches are attacking the gates of hell today, and what does it even mean?

Is the Gate of Hell a place?

There is some scriptural support for the idea that the Gate of Hell is a place. We’ll take it as a given that hell is at the center of the earth, indeed, we have seen in another post that Global Warming is the result of the expansion of hell.

Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth? Have the gates of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of death? Hast thou perceived the breadth of the earth? declare if thou knowest it all. (Job 38:16-18)

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (Revelation 1:17,18)

So it is possible that the Gate of Hell is a physical place, however, if it is, it is far deeper in the earth than we have ever dug or drilled, and it would be physically impossible to attack it. What else could the Gates of Hell be referring to?

Most Bible commentaries conclude that the Church will withstand all of the attacks and assaults of the devil. For instance, see Barnes:

“Hell” means, here, the place of departed spirits, particularly evil spirits; and the meaning of the passage is, that all the plots, stratagems, and machinations of the enemies of the church would not be able to overcome it a promise that has been remarkably fulfilled. (Barnes’ Notes on the Bible)

This kind of makes sense, except that the sense is the exact opposite of what the passage says. It still leaves me with the nagging question: How can a gate go on offence?  A gate is at the boundary of something.  It does not move. The gate of hell is deep inside the earth and we’re safe in our church and in our lives, separated by thousands of miles of the earth’s crust and mantle.

The Gate of Hell as used here must be referring to something else. The gate of hell is a physical thing, but we can also consider that it has a spiritual meaning.  A lost soul, someone living without Jesus Christ, could be said to be at the gate of hell, because if they died, that’s where they would go. Hell is only a heartbeat away. If a gate is not going to prevail then it must be attacked. This means that taking up an offensive position at the gate of hell, in order to turn back any souls who stray too close, is to be boldly proclaiming a warning about the reality of hell. Attacking the Gate of Hell is thus preaching the gospel of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. “Salvation from what?” I hear atheists say all the time. Salvation from hell. Are we attacking the gate of hell?

Look at the despair in the world today. Medical science, good nutrition, and law and order have contributed to the steady decrease in mortality rates across all demographic groups. Civilization and hand washing have seemingly won the day against chaos and confusion. Yet we have reached a tipping point. The longer healthier lives we are leading has given many of us more and more time to ponder the meaning of life, and a greater number than ever are concluding that it is overwhelmingly grim and are opting out. Now suicide, alcoholism and drug abuse are taking such a steady toll that death rates are rising for middle aged Americans.

Death Rates Rising for Middle-Aged White Americans, Study Finds

Couple that with the great success of Science Fiction in describing for us a vast universe with limitless possibilities and people are turning away from churches, in favor of either no religion or something they consume from the internet. Despite the prevailing narrative, science has not solved any of the big questions that we face: where do we come from and where are we going? More importantly, science hasn’t solved any of the little problems either, like: why am I so empty inside? The great success of science: iPhones, the internet, space exploration; only highlights its failure: an entire generation who mock even the possibility of a spiritual life.

U.S. Public Becoming Less Religious

There is a modest drop in overall rates of belief and practice, but religiously affiliated Americans are as observant as before. The troubling question is: what is happening to the children of this generation that is wavering? Even religious people are being fed a diet of soft liberal mush. Dad is on the computer, mom is on the iPad, the kids all have a phone each.  That’s where the people are.  At the gates of hell.

Who Wants to Attack The Gates of Hell?

The Church has been given a mission, more specifically, The Great Commission, to go into all the world and make disciples, teaching them how to be saved through faith in Jesus Christ and how to live a Godly life. There’s a big problem though: the people that we need to reach aren’t in the churches, it’s is not acceptable, or safe, in this day and age to walk around knocking on people’s doors to give them the good news. These days the people are playing with their phones and computers. The good news: this means that they are reachable. This is a vast mission field.

With just a phone you could potentially reach 1.6 Billion people.

We have young people who love their phones, love interacting on the web.  Why not give them all a job to do within the scope of the outreach work that the church is doing?  Why not have a social media committee and assign one person to each social media platform to promote the gospel, spiritual life, and the church?

Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:13,14)

Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)

Why Bother?

What’s the point? The world is so far gone does it even matter? Look at it this way: there are more people than ever before that are EASILY REACHABLE with the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Plus, you don’t even have to get out of bed to do it. No Christian with a smart phone or computer has an excuse to not be involved.

Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (1 Corinthians 3:13-15)
