The Distance to the Firmament

Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

(Job 22:12-14) KJV

The distance to the firmament (heaven), from the center of the Earth, is approx. 1,736,441 light years. But we (that’s me and the Holy spirit) would appreciate it if someone would check our math.

Practical Considerations of Biblical Gravitation

God made a home in the sky for the sun;
it comes out in the morning like a happy bridegroom,
like an athlete eager to run a race.
It starts at one end of the sky
and goes across to the other.
Nothing can hide from its heat.

(Psalms 19:4b-6) Good News Translation

It’s claimed that since Einstein made a prediction about gravitational time dilation this proves relativity. If gravitational time dilation was described by Moses about 1,400 years BC, does it prove the Bible?

The Sign of Jonah

A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

(Matthew 16:4) KJV

The sign of Jonah looks like a Biblical inconsistency. We (that’s me and the Holy Spirit) have never been able to figure out how Friday night to Sunday morning is three days and three nights. Just sayin’.

Time Dilation

Diagram showing how gravitational time dilation can account for observed redshift

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

(2 Peter 3:8) KJV

Albert Einstein predicted relativistic time dilation: the faster we go the slower time passes. At the speeds that humans travel it’s inconsequential. It’s a diversion away from the more significant gravitational time dilation.

The Donkey’s Jawbone

a jawbone

And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put out his hand and took it, and with it he struck 1,000 men. And Samson said,

“With the jawbone of a donkey,
heaps upon heaps,
with the jawbone of a donkey
have I struck down a thousand men.”

(Judges 15:15-16) ESV

The universe is both young and ancient simultaneously due to a phenomenon called gravitational time dilation (GTD). 2 Peter 3:8 is a mathematically accurate equation for GTD. We call it the Donkey’s Jawbone.
