Above and Below

Cutaway of planet Earth showing the crust, mantle, great gulf and hell.

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

(Deuteronomy 4:39) KJV

A recurring theme in scripture is heaven above and Earth below. Orientation occurs for the first time on the second day. It’s an ordering of the universe which occurred in response to the creation of gravity.

Hell: αδη – Hadés

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

(Luke 16:23) KJV

The New Testament (Greek) references to hell and the interior of the earth are in harmony with the spherical hollow earth model (SHEM) which we have constructed from the Old Testament (Hebrew).

The Sides of the Pit

Asshur is there and all her company: his graves are about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword: Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.

(Ezekiel 32:22-23) KJV

If you’re on a downward course and leave the lower mantle, once you enter the great gulf, there’s nothing to stop your fall into the core. This means that the pit refers to everything below the mantle.

Predictive Testable Hypothesis 28

  • IF the grave refers to the region of the earth’s mantle,
    • AND the pit refers to the molten core,
  • THEN you may be brought up from the grave, but not the pit.

The Foundations of the World

Then the channels of the sea were seen, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.

(Psalms 18:15) ESV

It’s very important to understand nuance. It’s what we may call having discernment. Two similar phrases my mean different things because they have different tense or depending on if they are singular or plural.

The foundation of the world, for instance, when it’s singular and translated from Greek refers to the act of conception by which God the son was begotten. This explains the context of the phrase slain from the foundation of the world.

The foundation(s) of the world, in contrast, when it’s plural and translated from Hebrew refers to the crust and mantle of planet Earth.

Foundation(s) of the World/Earth

  1. the foundation of the world (Greek, singular)
    • conception
      • before God said let there be light,
      • the act of conception which begat God the Son.
  2. the foundation(s) of the earth (Hebrew)
    • gravitational singularity
      • the creative act of the 2nd day,
      • the inception of the core accretion model.
  3. the foundations of the world (Hebrew, plural)
    • the earth’s crust and mantle,
      • synonyms:
        1. bottoms of the mountains
        2. foundations of the hills
        3. foundations of the mountains

There’s a clear difference between the Hebrew erets (earth), and tebel (world). In the passage from Psalms above The foundations of the world (tebel) refers to the crust and mantle which were exposed as the ocean floor.

And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

(2 Samuel 22:16) KJV

The passage from the Psalms is a restatement of this verse from 2 Samuel. It’s an excerpt from a prayer that King David prayed after surviving a series of battles with his enemies. He was giving thanks to God for protection and deliverance. The prayer refers to miraculous acts of God which were taught as part of the history of the children of Israel. It’s a reference to parting the Red Sea when the Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt.

This being the case, then the foundations of the world (tebel) was the exposed ocean floor that the children of Israel walked across to escape the Egyptian army. The foundation of the earth (erets) in our model is the core not the mantle. It’s below the lower mantle and separated from it by the great gulf.

Computer model of ocean floor depth (bathymetry) off the eastern coast of Japan. The peaks are underwater mountains and volcanoes. The tectonic plate boundary is marked by the deep trench running through centre. It was here that a massive offshore earthquake on 11 March 2011 caused a tsunami that devastated the coast around Sendai. The sharp transition in depth increased the impact of this tsunami. Searched out Beneath

Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

(Jeremiah 31:37) KJV

The interior of the earth is not seen. The hope of our generation is that hell is a myth. That would mean that there’s no judgement for sin and we can live immoral lives without fearing any consequences.

Unfortunately the very same data that SciPop uses as evidence that there’s no hell may be used as evidence for hell. That’s how evidence works: it’s evidence of whatever you choose to believe about it. This is known as Matty’s Razor.

We all have exactly the same evidence.
Our choice of paradigm determines what we believe it’s evidence of.

– Matty’s Razor

Jeremiah’s Logic

  • IF God will cast off the seed of Israel,
    1. If heaven above can be measured,
    2. the foundations of the earth can be searched out beneath,
  • BUT God doesn’t cast off the seed of Israel,
  • THEN:
    1. heaven above can’t be measured,
    2. the foundations of the earth can’t be searched out beneath,

– The levels of hell correspond to the four zones of the interior of the Earth.

The Hebrews had a well developed idea of life after death. For them death, the grave, was a portal into a complex underworld realm. The grave is just the beginning of what happens next.

Let’s All Calm Down and Make Sense of That Antarctic Mantle Plume

Three decades ago, scientists began to study the possibility that there was a plume of hot rock coming up from the mantle, heating parts of Western Antarctica. Back in September, researchers published results of a model showing how such a plume might affect the Antarctic ice sheet. Today, these headlines started to appear:
