The Days Before Noah

Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.

(Amos 7:4) KJV

The longsuffering of God waited in the days before Noah. Noah’s flood saw the waters of the deep (tehom), being boiled out from under the Earth creating the open space that Jesus referred to as the great gulf (sheol).

Slain From the Foundation of the World

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

(Revelation 13:8) KJV

Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is also called the lamb that was slain [from] the foundation of the world, which we take to mean the lamb that was slain [at] the foundation of the world.

What Fell First?

Matty's Paradigm a unified theory of everything

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

(2 Corinthians 5:21) NKJV

God can’t abide sin, he can’t look on it. Yet in order for free will to be a possibility, sin has to be possible. How does a perfectly pure and righteous God create a system which allows evil to exist? He has to go against his own nature and become sin for us.

The Deep

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

(Genesis 1:1-2) ESV

The deep existed in the beginning, before God began to create. This means that creation isn’t ex nihilo, from nothing, it’s ex abyssi, from the deep. This is so obvious that everyone has missed it completely.

Gravity

And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

(1 Samuel 17:49) KJV

The Bible contains an extensively developed doctrine of gravity but it’s not new, it’s always been there. It may be new to you, but it was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.

From Tehom to Sheol

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

(Genesis 7:11-12) KJV
  • IF God saw the wickedness of man,
    • AND decided to take action,
  • THEN the fountains of the great deep were established either:
    1. as a hedge against this outcome or,
    2. they existed for an unrelated reason.

The existence of hell isn’t an example of God being mean. Hell is the default outcome for all matter and souls, however there is a freely available alternative: faith and life in Jesus Christ.

Tehom

Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:

(Deuteronomy 5:8) KJV

The deep, of Genesis 1:2 became the great deep, the deeps and the depths of the created world. They’re all translated from the same Hebrew word, tehom. The deep became creation. The word became flesh.

There Went up a Mist

And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

(Genesis 2:5-6) KJV

On the 3rd day there was no rain upon the earth and there was not a man to till the ground. On the 6th day there was a man in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it, logically there was also rain.

Formed: יֹצֵ֨ר – Yatsar

To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.

(Psalms 136:6) KJV

On the 3rd day the dry land was stretched out above the waters of the deep in a manner which may be visualized as a potter making a hollow vessel out of a solid lump of clay.

Deep Calleth Unto Deep

Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

(Psalms 42:7) KJV

Why were there no Cherubim or flaming swords necessary on the North, West and South of Eden? Eden was surrounded on three sides by unscalable cliffs over which four rivers flowed as waterfalls.
