The Donkey’s Jawbone

a jawbone

And he found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, and put out his hand and took it, and with it he struck 1,000 men. And Samson said,

“With the jawbone of a donkey,
heaps upon heaps,
with the jawbone of a donkey
have I struck down a thousand men.”

(Judges 15:15-16) ESV

The universe is both young and ancient simultaneously due to a phenomenon called gravitational time dilation (GTD). 2 Peter 3:8 is a mathematically accurate equation for GTD. We call it the Donkey’s Jawbone.

A Definition of Time

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

(Jeremiah 1:5) KJV

It’s helpful to understand the relationship that God has with time. Time and gravity are bound together in an intricate way so much so that our definition of gravity can be used to derive a definition of time.

Eternity: הָעֹלָם֙ – haolam

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

(Ecclesiastes 3:11) NKJV

A gravitational singularity stops time. If time isn’t passing at the singularity, but all around it time passes at a rate proportional to the square of the distance from it, then time is both not passing, and all of it has passed, simultaneously.
