And he said to me, “Son of man, have you seen this?”
Then he led me back to the bank of the river. As I went back, I saw on the bank of the river very many trees on the one side and on the other. And he said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, and enters the sea; when the water flows into the sea, the water will become fresh. And wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live, and there will be very many fish. For this water goes there, that the waters of the sea may become fresh; so everything will live where the river goes.
(Ezekiel 47:6-9) ESV
Ezekiel describes water flowing from the temple in Jerusalem which will heal everything that it touches. It’s necessary after the devastation of Earth during the tribulation. Fish will thrive again.
The water that up wells at Jerusalem will flow out towards the east and to the west. It will cleanse and purify the land after the plagues of the tribulation have dumped billions of tons of fire and brimstone on it. The oceans were turned to blood but the water flowing from Jerusalem will freshen and restore it.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.
– Matty’s Razor
The land of the Millennial Kingdom will have a steady gradient until it stops at a coastline. At this point the water will flow into what will once again become the sea, but it also enters the hydrological cycle. A portion of the water will flow below ground and cycle through the subterranean depths below the Millennial Kingdom. This is deduced from the description that the waters are continually flowing from the temple, which is on a plateau at the top of a mountain that fills the whole Earth, but it’s not explicitly stated.
It’s tempting to call this new underground purification and geothermal heating system the great deep, bringing back the name used to describe the original subterranean water chamber, but the use of that name to refer to the Millennial Kingdom equivalent doesn’t appear in scripture. Instead we’re going to refer to it as the new deep.
The image today is finally starting to look like something beautiful and intricate, something that God planned. Despite the horrific and terrifying plagues that are going to come upon the Earth during the tribulation, not to mention the upheavals and spasms that the Earth has already been through, this is part of a carefully conceived plan.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
(Ecclesiastes 3:11) ESV
The system that we’ve visually constructed accounts for a lot of scripture, both what we’re told has gone before us, and what we’re told will come to pass. Some phases of the Earth’s history are more beautiful than others. It may be the case that the age in which we live is one of the least beautiful, yet by knowing the Lord, believing in His righteousness, and trusting in His goodness we can still see the beauty in whatever we look at. We just have to remember who our God is, and what he’s done for us.
