Out of Course?

How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

(Psalms 82:2-5) KJV

Mainstream science (SciPop) requires you to believe that the Earth orbits the sun and the sun is traveling through space. The Psalmist is warning us that those who want you to believe this are wicked oppressors.

The molten core of Earth is referred to as the pit, the pit of corruption and the lowest hell. It’s a ball of radioactive slag which accumulated around the gravitational singularity referred to as the foundation of the earth. In the post for February 10th we looked at the way scripture handles this and deduced that a gravitational singularity was established forever: it formed the foundation of the first heaven and Earth; it will be the foundation of the new heaven and Earth. It shall not be removed.

We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.

Matty’s Razor

Our featured passage is another example of the Hebrew word erets being used to describe the planet Earth, but in this case it’s said to be out of course. Does this refute our hypothesis or is there a nuance here which we need to understand?

Most passages that refer to the foundations of the earth refer to the second day of creation. At this time the foundations of the earth were established and the heavens were spread out simultaneously. The context of today’s passage is quite different, it’s not referring to the process of creation at all. We have to consider who is this Psalm addressed to, and why? This is an exhortation to God’s people to show good judgment in their dealings.

Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.

– Faith, definition

Why are you being unjust and accepting wicked people?
Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
You should be saving the poor from wicked oppressors.
The oppressors are they who are in darkness, they don’t understand, for them the foundations of the earth are out of course.

(Psalms 82:2-5) Paraphrased

The nuance here is that the foundations of the earth aren’t out of course such that our hypothesis is invalid, the foundations of the earth being out of course is a state of mind that wicked oppressors find themselves in because of their spiritual darkness. What could be more true of the current state of mainstream science (SciPop) and popular culture?

Starting with Copernicus the scientific community has been determined to make us believe that the foundations of the earth are out of course. Copernicus was the first to suggest that it was possible to imagine the cosmos from a frame of reference other than the Earth. Galileo showed that the religious dogma of his day regarding cosmology was false. However, contrary to popular opinion, he didn’t prove heliocentricity but what he did had the effect of making people take Copernicus seriously.

At the time of Copernicus and Galileo religious dogma was that everything in the solar system had to orbit the Earth. We don’t know why it was this way, this isn’t expressly stated in scripture nor is it possible to deduce this as a conclusion. Be that as it may, Galileo showed that not everything in the solar system orbits the Earth, for example: Venus orbits the sun, and Jupiter has moons. Neither of these observations prove heliocentricity, but figuratively it shook the foundations of the earth out of their place.

Since then the drum beat of SciPop has been that Earth orbits the sun. The SciPop community wants you to know that you’re an ignoramus for thinking anything else. More recently, since the advent of Star Trek, the theme is that the sun is drifting through the void of space and that the solar system is acentric, not heliocentric.

Salvation

  1. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
    • believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
  2. confess your sin.

This animated image shows the current state of SciPop.

The sun is drifting through an infinite universe, with its rag-tag band of planets carried along in its gravitational field.

According to the Psalmist, people who want you to believe that the Earth is out of course are wicked oppressors. Did you see that? That’s the Psalmist, we (that’s me and the Holy spirit) didn’t make that up folks. In conclusion our passage today which says that the foundations of the earth are out of course, based on its context, supports our hypothesis, it doesn’t refute it.
