The Lowest Hell

For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

(Deuteronomy 32:22) KJV

Deuteronomy 32:22 begins the doctrine of the expansion of hell. The foundations of the world is the Earth’s mantle. It’s been set on fire by the heat from hell below, and this is the cause of tectonic activity.

However, the fire wasn’t kindled in the mantle, the fire was kindled in the core. We have seen that the core of the Earth is referred to as the pit, the pit of corruption, and the lowest hell: the molten core of the Earth from which there’s no return. The grave, on the other hand, in the mantle, you can be brought up from.

O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

(Psalms 30:3) KJV

We can draw a direct comparison between the pit and the lowest hell by connecting it to the way that Ezekiel describes descending into the pit as something from which no one can return. The pit is what we are saved from through faith in Christ.

Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

(Isaiah 38:17-18) KJV

In this passage the Psalmist’s soul could be brought up from the grave because it had not descended into the pit. You can return from the grave because it is the mantle of the Earth. You can’t return from the pit because it is the molten core of the Earth.

For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

(Psalms 86:13) KJV

This is our passage from yesterday which is a very clear statement of salvation being the way to avoid the pit of corruption, the molten core of the earth. The phrase used is: “delivered from the pit of corruption“. Now look at this next passage which is expressing the same sentiment, but refers to the molten core of the earth as the lowest hell:

This is how we can be sure that the lowest hell is expanding. The Hebrew translated as lowest hell is:

• שְׁא֣וֹל תַּחְתִּ֑ית – sheol tachti (lower, lowest)

Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

(Isaiah 14:9) KJV

Very similar words occur in another passage which is part of the doctrine of the expansion of hell:

This is the Hebrew for hell from beneath:

• שְׁא֗וֹל מִתַּ֛חַת – sheol tachat (underneath, below, instead of)

This would appear to be another reference to the molten core of the Earth, the pit of corruption, which rises up to meet the souls condemned to go there. Hell is expanding due to the continual influx of human souls and debris. This why we’re experiencing global warming and climate change.
