Answer 3

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged.

(Genesis 8:1) KJV
  • Why did God flood the world, kill everybody, start over again, yet forget to absolve Noah and his descendants of original sin? And if Noah’s family were cleansed of it, how did humanity get it back?

This question makes it clear that there’s confusion over what original sin is. Original sin is not a conceptual thing that can be removed, it set in motion a course of history which can’t be stopped or changed.

Jesus crucifixion didn’t remove original sin, it gave us a way to be free from the consequences of it. Here’s the obvious solution to the dilemma faced by the confused seeker: Original sin and the curse on the Earth aren’t the same thing.

Original sin is the reason why the universe is a state of decay. The significance of Noah’s flood here isn’t to do with original sin, it has to do with removing the curse from the Earth that occurred as a result of original sin.

God flooded the earth with water from below the mantle (the great deep) and from above the firmament. The volume of water is impossible to to calculate since the majority of it evaporated after the flood. One beneficial result of the flood is that the land was cleansed. The curse was removed. This is why the oceans are salty.

And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

(Genesis 8:21) NKJV

The hydrological system is completely different now, instead of an essentially self-contained fresh water circulation system that uses the empty space below the Earth’s mantle, now we have a system that depends on evaporation (a purification process) and rain.
