By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.(Hebrews 11:3) NKJV
The plan for WHY? is a year-long daily devotional in which divine creation and it’s entropic decay pivot on the fall of man, the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden.
This is a clear theme throughout scripture. Superficially it could be said that the creation was good until it was corrupted by sin. That’s not technically accurate though, because the creation had to be made in a corrupted state in order for sin to be possible. In this scenario Adam and Eve didn’t corrupt the world, they discovered that it was inherently corrupt. That’s why the tree of knowledge of good and evil was in the garden.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.– Matty’s Razor
That’s simple and it makes sense but it gets confusing when pastors and teachers start talking about how Satan beguiled Eve in the garden of Eden, in which case Adam and Eve weren’t the first ones to sin, Satan was. In this narrative Satan led a rebellion in heaven and then went after Adam and Eve.
The thing is, Satan wasn’t in Eden, this timeline is impossible for a variety of reasons. He was in heaven watching what happened after Adam and Eve were disobedient. When he saw that God seemed to let them off the hook, and then they went on to live their lives, he probably figured that the punishment for his rebellion wouldn’t be that bad – based on what had happened to Adan and Eve.
Satan got played. He didn’t know that hell had just been kindled and it that was going to consume the Earth and almost everything on it, including himself. That being said he’s here on Earth among us determined to create as much confusion as possible, including the nonsense that the universe was created from nothing, ex nihilo. God didn’t create the universe from nothing, that’s not even what the word create means. We use a definition of the word creation which is derived from the Greek word translated as formed:
Creation is the supernatural cause of the universe, a sequentially more complex ordering of a pre-existent body of water called “the deep” which obeys all physical laws including the first law of thermodynamics which states that energy can be transformed from one form to another, but can be neither made to appear from nothing nor be destroyed. The Bible clearly states that God became the universe, the Word became flesh, through the person of Jesus Christ. (Ex Abyssi).
There is no statement in scripture which says that God created the universe from nothing (Ex Nihilo).– Creation, definition
How we understand the Lord’s revealed truth about his creation is evolving. When you get cause and effect into the correct relationship then creation and evolution are in harmony, but as the before and after, or cause and effect, of the first act of disobedience. Hebrews 11:3 Segways into a discussion of the planetary bodies in our cosmological system, the worlds which may have had, or will have, an impact on the Earth.
