LEGO – logos

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

(Hebrews 4:12) NKJV

LEGO is a Greek word from which we get logos, one of the names of God the Son. In our context it describes the sequential laying down of thoughts to establish an argument. It’s the basis of logic and reason.

Logic and reason are the basis of cause and effect. First cause established the Holy Trinity.

Lego: λέγω – legó

• to say
• (denoting speech in progress),
  • (a) I say, speak; I mean, mention, tell,
  • (b) I call, name, especially in the pass.,
  • (c) I tell, command.
• légō (originally, “lay down to sleep,” used later of “laying an argument to rest,” i.e. bringing a message to closure; see Curtius, Thayer) – properly, to say (speak), moving to a conclusion (bringing it to closure, “laying it to rest”).

Logos: Λόγος – a Word

• lógos from /légō, “speaking to a conclusion“
  • a word, being the expression of a thought; a saying. /lógos (“word”) is preeminently used of Christ (Jn 1:1), expressing the thoughts of the Father through the Spirit.
• sharing a message (discourse, “communication-speech”).
• a broad term meaning “reasoning expressed by words“
  • properly, a collecting, collection and that, as well of those things which are put together in thought, as of those which, having been thought i. e. gathered together in the mind, are expressed in words. Accordingly, a twofold use of the term is to be distinguished: one which relates to speaking, and one which relates to thinking.
• reason, the mental faculty of thinking, meditating, reasoning, calculating, etc.:
  • of the divine mind, pervading and noting all things by its proper force, Hebrews 4:12.
