And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.(2 Thessalonians 2:11-12) KJV
“Diversification of vascular plants: all major groups except flowering plants present by end of Devonian“. This demonstrates how inductive reasoning is used to account for evidence.
Inductive reasoning (as opposed to deductive reasoning or abductive reasoning) is reasoning in which the premises are viewed as supplying strong evidence for the truth of the conclusion. While the conclusion of a deductive argument is certain, the truth of the conclusion of an inductive argument is probable, based upon the evidence given.– Inductive Reasoning, definition (Wikipedia)
We’re transitioning from ocean floor habitat to marine, to coastal, then wetland, and now upland terrestrial habitat. Each layer of sediment has been transported a further distance from its source to the environment of deposition. In the SciPop narrative we can parse out what’s Devonian and what ‘s supposedly more “recent” by the presence or absence of flowering plants.
Why? The phrase “flowering plants” isn’t poetic, it’s a technical term for a monophyletic clade known by the scientific name Angiosperms. In the narrative of evolution the Angiosperms are the most biologically sophisticated, or most advanced, vascular plants. Therefore, in the narrative, of most recent origin compared to more primitive forms like Gymnosperms.
The practical reality is that whenever the remains of flowering plants are found the sediments aren’t assigned to the Devonian or before, they’re assigned to something else after. See that? The premise of evolution has been used to supply evidence for the conclusion. That’s induction. Deposits with no Angiosperms are dated Devonian or earlier, while deposits with Angiosperms are dated as more recent. It’s a perfect microcosm of circular reasoning.
So, how blinded are you by the SciPop paradigm? Do you still want to believe the strong delusion?
