Sunlight filtering throught leave of a knarled tree in the fall

Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the East, and there he put the man he had formed. He made all kinds of beautiful trees grow there and produce good fruit. In the middle of the garden stood the tree that gives life and the tree that gives knowledge of what is good and what is bad.

Genesis 2:8-9 is topical, not chronological. God planted a garden on the third day, and man was created on the sixth day. Since the garden was made for the man, then that’s how it’s described.

The Essence of Free Will

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

(2 Peter 3:9) KJV

Water is the essence of free will which is why God used it as the raw material for the universe. God’s goal was to create sentient life that had the ability to accept or reject Him as creator based on the testimony of the creation itself.

Why did God Create the Universe?

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

(Philippians 2:12-13) KJV

God *could* have created a perfect world, and He *could* have made companions who were as pure as the matter which he *could* have made from nothing, but he didn’t. He created a corrupted world from water.

Science

And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes; Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

(Daniel 1:3-4) KJV

What is science? The word is used to refer to beneficial technology like the iPhone but also to a pseudoscientific narrative of godless existence. The word, as used, refers to a mixture of truth and error.
