The Great Chasm

The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us.’

(Luke 16:22-26) ESV

The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is a description of the internal structure of the Earth that’s in conflict with current popular science theories (SciPop). We need to understand why.

Abraham’s Bosom

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

“Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’

(Luke 16:22-26) NKJV

In Luke 16:19-31 Jesus gave us the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. Lazarus is said to have been in Abraham’s bosom. That simply means that Abraham was giving Lazarus a hug, comforting him.

Cutaway of planet earth showing hell at the center

There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

(Luke 16:19-31) KJV

Seismological data shows different zones of density within the Earth which match the description of Earth’s interior given us by Jesus in Luke 16:19-31, the parable of the rich man and Lazarus.

Jesus describes the internal structure of the Earth in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus. We use this passage to understand that sheol includes a chamber in the lower mantle which overlooks hell.

(Luke 16:25-26) NKJV

The testimony of Jesus Christ establishes that there’s a great gulf of open space inside the Earth. It’s described in the passage known as the parable of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31).

The Beginning from the End

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

(Isaiah 46:10) KJV

SciPop has a rationalization for why there’s no hell or great gulf of open space inside the earth, because SciPop wants to be an antidote for guilt, and the fear of of judgment and eternal torment.

P-waves propagate through gas giving no reason why the area that mainstream science (SciPop) calls the liquid outer core can’t be open space. Jesus describes it in Luke 16 as a great gulf, or mega chasm, in the interior of the Earth.
