Babel

Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

(Genesis 11:1-4) NKJV

We’re told that, after Noah’s flood, the people decided to stay together as a community and build a city. That wasn’t what God had in mind. He was working with a deadline.

Cutaway of planet Earth showing the relative depth of Noah's flood

How Deep was Noah’s Flood?

The waters prevailed and greatly increased on the earth, and the ark moved about on the surface of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly on the earth, and all the high hills under the whole heaven were covered. The waters prevailed fifteen cubits upward, and the mountains were covered.

(Genesis 7:18-20) NKJV

A lot of people like to say that there’s not enough water on Earth to flood it to a depth of 15 cubits above all mountains. They use math to do this so, naturally, everybody believes them because, hey, it’s math.

There is no New Thing Under the Sun

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

(Ecclesiastes 1:9-10) KJV

You may have heard news that the first ever picture of a black hole has been…. what’s the word? constructed? contrived? concocted? fudged? faked? Made up? Take your pick.

The Earth is Set Firmly in Place

Praise the Lord’s glorious name;
bring an offering and come into his Temple.
Bow down before the Holy One when he appears;
tremble before him, all the earth!
The earth is set firmly in place and cannot be moved.

(1 Chronicles 16:29-31) Good News Translation

Does relativity refute the idea of an absolute frame of reference? No. Relativity is an inductive rationalization of the premise that there isn’t one, but it’s derived from an incorrect theory of gravity.

Matty’s Constant

The Lord provides the sun for light by day,
the moon and the stars to shine at night.
He stirs up the sea and makes it roar;
his name is the Lord Almighty.
He promises that as long as the natural order lasts,
so long will Israel be a nation.
If one day the sky could be measured
and the foundations of the earth explored,
only then would he reject the people of Israel
because of all they have done.
The Lord has spoken.

(Jeremiah 31:35-37) Good News Translation

We can’t prove heliocentricity, nor do we have an absolute value for the mass of the Earth. Despite this we have a working model of our solar system so accurate that it can land a space vehicle on a comet.

March 14th

Happy Π Day!

Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.

(2 Chronicles 4:2) KJV

It’s March 14 which could be written as 3.14, the mathematical constant Π which expresses the relationship between circumference and diameter. Atheist science trolls (ASTs) dismiss the Bible because, supposedly, it has the wrong value for Π.

Math = Faith

But people will tell you to ask for messages from fortunetellers and mediums, who chirp and mutter. They will say, “After all, people should ask for messages from the spirits and consult the dead on behalf of the living.”

You are to answer them, “Listen to what the Lord is teaching you! Don’t listen to mediums—what they tell you cannot keep trouble away.”

(Isaiah 8:19-20) Good News Translation

Faith is believing in something that you can’t see. Math requires believing in concepts that you can’t see, and relating them to each other in ways that can’t be seen. Math is inductive, reductive, circular faith.
