The third day of creation, when God made the dry land appear and covered it with lush vegetation, is a subject of derision from atheist science trolls (ASTs) because of where it occurs in the sequence of creation.

Sun and Moon

And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

(Isaiah 66:23) KJV

The Millennial Kingdom will have a sun and moon, although the sun will be a dim glimmer compared to what it is now. The majority of the light in the Millennial Kingdom will be the glory of the Lord who now inhabits Jerusalem. Here Isaiah is speaking about the Millennial Kingdom.

The Brightness of the Firmament

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. (Daniel 12:3)

The wise leaders will shine with all the brightness of the sky. And those who have taught many people to do what is right will shine like the stars forever.

(Daniel 12:3) Good News Translation

Then God’s people will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Listen, then, if you have ears!

(Matthew 13:43) Good News Translation

The creation of gravity and formation of the firmament was to establish a place, heaven, where God would dwell in perpetual light because the firmament is bright like the sun, as we see from Daniel.

Rejoicing to Run a Race

{To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.} The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

(Psalms 19:1-6) KJV

The new heaven and new Earth spoken of in the Revelation are filled with the light of the glory of God. There’ll be no day or night, no need of the sun or moon. So what’s going to happen to the sun and moon?

Which New Heaven and New Earth?

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. Isaiah and others speak about a new heavens and a new earth, but he isn’t referring to the new heaven and new earth which are described in Revelation chapters 21 and 22.
