The Pit of Corruption
Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
(Isaiah 38:17-18) King James Version
The lower mantle is a point of no return. There’s a great gulf (outer core) of open space between the mantle and the core. The molten core of the Earth (inner core), referred to as the pit of corruption, is hell.
We (that’s me and the Holy spirit) deduced a model of the internal structure of the Earth based on the idea that a spherical Earth formed around a gravitational singularity which was created on the second day. Gravity has a specific purpose: the permanent physical separation of light from dark, good from evil.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.

We’ve seen that the Bible has names for all of the physical features of the interior of the Earth which we’ve identified. Our spherical hollow Earth model is compatible with everything the Bible says pertaining to how Earth’s form fits its function. The function of the pit is to hold the souls of the lost until the final judgement. Today’s passage neatly brings together these concepts.
Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.
– Faith, definition
Isaiah 38:17
- IF a gravitational singularity was created for the purpose of drawing together all of the corruption and impurity in creation so that it can be disposed of,
- AND the core of the Earth is referred to as the pit,
- THEN this is literally a pit of corruption.
Isaiah 38:18
- IF the core of the Earth, hell, is the destination for those who lived without trusting in Jesus Christ,
- AND this is where they await the final judgement,
- THEN those who go down to the pit can’t hope for thy truth:
- everlasting life in the presence of God.
The words translated as pit of corruption in Isaiah 38:17 are missahat beli – מִשַּׁ֣חַת בְּלִ֔י. It’s based on the root shacath – שַׁ֗חַת. This is the form in which it appears in the following verse:
But you, O God, will cast them down
(Psalms 55:23) English Standard Version
into the pit of destruction;
men of blood and treachery
shall not live out half their days.
But I will trust in you.
The word translated the pit in Isaiah 38:18 is bowr – בֽוֹר which also occurs in the passages in Ezekiel where he describes a three stage descent into the pit: down to the pit, the lowest hell.
- Death,
- passage through the nether parts of the Earth,
- descent into the pit.
