Abiogenesis not Evolution

God looked at everything he had made, and he was very pleased. Evening passed and morning came—that was the sixth day.

(Genesis 1:31) Good News Translation

The first day of creation included development of cellular and multicellular life which was capable of photosynthesis. This may seem far-fetched but it’s in harmony with scientific theories of the origin of life.

The atomic, molecular, sub-cellular and cellular steps which are necessary to go from a body of pure water to biological life have been determined, or are under investigation, and are what we know today as the theory of abiogenesis.

We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.

Matty’s Razor

When evolution was growing and developing as an idea there was a lot of other scientific discovery going on too. Genetics and the molecular structure for DNA gave the process of evolution a solid scientific backbone. Solid, that is, as change over time through the passage of heritable traits from generation to generation which could be studied and documented. But what happened before there were organisms having offspring? It became clear that evolution, as described, simply couldn’t be the origin of life itself.

Popular science (SciPop) made the strategic pivot in separating abiogenesis from evolution because there’s an obvious distinction between the process which created life and the process by which it’s slowly changing. SciPop can now claim that evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life which catches creationists by surprise because they’re trying to argue against a definition of evolution which no one else uses.

Faith is believing in something that you can’t see, because of evidence.

– Faith, definition

You are doomed! You call evil good and call good evil. You turn darkness into light and light into darkness. You make what is bitter sweet, and what is sweet you make bitter.

(Isaiah 5:20) Good news Translation

It’s perfect for us and we can show that abiogenesis started on the first day of creation. We extend abiogenesis to cover the development of terrestrial plant life on the third day, fish and birds on the fifth day, and terrestrial animals on the sixth day. God’s creative work vs. the fall and decay of creation pivot on a moment in time: the fall of man in Genesis 3.

  1. Call upon the name of Jesus Christ,
    • believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead,
  2. confess your sin.

And he said to the man, “You listened to your wife and ate the fruit which I told you not to eat. Because of what you have done, the ground will be under a curse. You will have to work hard all your life to make it produce enough food for you.

(Genesis 3:17) Good News Translation

This means that a lot of what SciPop claims is evolution: the phylogenetic tree of diversity from Phylum to Family, isn’t evolution at all. As such, even DNA sequence based phylogenies don’t show us the evolutionary relationships of plants and animals, they show us the systematic way in which God created complex forms from less complex ones. God created iterations of creatures which were developmentally more and more complex. The process wasn’t dependent on the passage of traits from generation to generation and the Lord could create with a free hand and recombine traits and characteristics at will.

Abiogenesis is the creative will of God expressed as progressively more complex biological life over the course of the 6 days of creation.

– Abiogenesis, definition

The combination of Reptilian and Mammalian traits in the Monotremes, for instance, is evidence of the systematic manner in which God carried out abiogenesis during the six days of creation. It has nothing to do with evolution. There was no passage of heritable traits from generation to generation in abiogenesis. Evolution isn’t part of God’s creative work.

The reason for creation is the manifestation of sentient life with free will.

– The Reason for Creation

Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned.

(Romans 5:12) Good News Translation

Evolution started after the fall of man in Genesis 3 when sin entered the world and death by sin. Abiogenesis is analogous with creation. Evolution is analogous with the fall and decay of the Earth. It’s is genetic decay which is why we refer to it as devolution.

  1. Abiogenesis: Creation
    • Life was created during the 6 days of creation.
    • Developmental patterns are clearly evident but this isn’t evolution because there’s no death, and no passage of traits between generations. Each created kind is an Iteration.
  2. Evolution: The Fall
    • At the fall of man the Earth was cursed. Nuclear decay and the process of senescence began. It became necessary to reproduce and generations of offspring began to inherit the changes to their DNA caused by decay.
    • Biological evolution is bound to a timescale of billions of years because this is how long it would take to compile the human genome. However, by starting with a complete genome it’s only taken about 6,000 years to arrive at the current state that we’re in.

There is physical evidence which substantiates the claim that abiogenesis took place on the first day. We’ll get to it.
