Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.(2 Corinthians 5:17) ESV
God created the universe so that we can sin, otherwise there’s no free will, and that means God created a universe in which sin is possible. Sin isn’t an accident.
We were browsing for images and we found a blog which was an attempt to answer this question:
“If God, being all-knowing, knew sin would happen, then why would He create the universe in the first place?”– Misguided question.
We all have the same evidence. Our choice of paradigm determines what we think it’s evidence of.– Matty’s Razor
This question misses the point. How do we answer a question when the question itself is wrong? It comes from the mindset of people who think that God created a perfect world and it got ruined by accident. Nothing could be further from the truth.
God had to become sin in order for us to exist. This is the sacrifice that was made. The Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world in an act of conception of Alpha with Omega to beget the Son, Jesus Christ, Alpha and Omega. The Word was made flesh by embodying the material of which we’re made. The Word became flesh doesn’t just refer to the man Jesus of Nazareth, it’s our flesh too. This is why we have to be redeemed.
Free will is a property of the material that we’re made of. That’s why some atomic nuclei decay, for instance. Our nature, both body and spirit, are made from this corrupted material. This is how we can be both sinful and contrite. We can do evil and desire to be good. We can revel in the works of darkness and crave freedom from them. We can see the agony around us as this creation decays and fervently pray for deliverance.
In the new heaven and new Earth our nature will be changed. We’ll have a body and spirit which are completely pure. We’ll still have free will, but our desire for self-gratification and self-destructive pursuits will be gone. The power to change our nature is the price paid for our redemption by the sacrifice of the lamb. That’s why we must call on his name, Jesus Christ, and then our name will be written in the Lamb’s book of life.
