Betelgeuse is 25 percent closer than scientists thought

  • Scientists studying the star Betelgeuse have determined that it’s actually roughly 25% closer than previous estimates.
  • The star is also slightly smaller than scientists assumed, though it still appears as though it’s reaching the end of its life.
  • The star poses no threat to Earth when it eventually blows up.

Stinking in the Sight of Pharaoh

Perigeon

When asteroids approach the Earth they’re at perigeon. You’ve heard of perihelion, we need a new word. We’re going to coin a word to express the concept of perihelion, but proximity to the Earth (geo), not the sun.

The Distance to the Firmament

Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are! And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud? Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

(Job 22:12-14) KJV

The distance to the firmament (heaven), from the center of the Earth, is approx. 1,736,441 light years. But we (that’s me and the Holy spirit) would appreciate it if someone would check our math.
