Independent Fundamental

For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

(1 Corinthians 1:21) KJV

September 11, 2001 will live in infamy. Islamic extremists attacked the USA and destroyed the World Trade Center buildings, among other things. That was a Thursday. The following Sunday we decided to give church one last try and we walked into an Independent Fundamental Baptist church in Carrboro, North Carolina.

My Salvation

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

(Romans 10:9-10) KJV

In July 1997, all alone in an old farmhouse in the North Carolina countryside, we fell down on our knees and begged Jesus to save us, expecting a lightening bolt to blast through the ceiling and fry us on the spot. It was what we deserved. But it didn’t happen, and there we were, saved. You can be saved too.

Peace that Passes all Understanding

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

(Philippians 4:4-7) KJV

We can find ourselves in turmoil at this time of year with the frantic running around that needs to be done. The rest of the world is also frantically running around at the same time.

America’s Epidemic of Empty Churches

This is a direct copy of a SciPop or news article preserved here because things on the internet have a bad habit of disappearing when you try to find them again. Full credit is given to the original authors and the source.

– Matty

Religious communities often face a choice: Sell off the buildings they can no longer afford, or find a way to fill them with new uses.

Let’s Attack Hell

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

(Matthew 16:18) KJV

If the gates of hell won’t prevail against the church, and gates are defensive structures, then the church must be attacking hell.

Loosing Control

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

(Acts 15:39) KJV

Christian leadership is fighting a loosing battle to stay in control of everything from political power to reproductive rights. They haven’t realized that they’re fighting for a way of life which is becoming illegal.

Fed by Ravens

If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

(John 7:17) KJV

Did you know that it’s possible to know God’s will? That is, what to do NEXT? When that’s done, the next task is revealed. It’s like following a trail of bread crumbs, or being fed by ravens. We come to know God’s will by doing God’s will.

Great Was the Fall of It

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

(Matthew 7:24-27) KJV

This month has been a challenging look at the 4th day of creation, because it involves pulling down a stronghold of science: theoretical physics. We’ve known that we would have to do this for many years but we avoided it for as long as possible.

The Signs of the Times

And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

(Revelation 22:6-7) KJV

Jesus is coming soon. It’s Christmas and the celebration of Jesus coming as a baby, but we live in anticipation of His return as King. Many people believe that the Lord may return at anytime, but can he? What has to happen first?

Blessed is He that Watcheth

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

(Revelation 16:13-16) KJV

This is the battle of Armageddon when Jesus will destroy his enemies before ascending to the throne in Jerusalem to rule and reign for 1,000 years. It’s interesting to wonder what would cause all of the kings of the earth to rise up in battle against the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, when he returns to the earth, as has been prophesied and taught around the world for over 2,000 years.
