The Sides of the Pit

Asshur is there and all her company: his graves are about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword: Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.

(Ezekiel 32:22-23) KJV

We’ve seen in scripture that, after death, all souls go to the grave. This is one of the ways that the word sheol is translated. We’ve found that after that there are two possible outcomes:

  1. Those who knew the Lord during their life remain in the mantle,
  2. Those who rejected the Lord descend into the core.

Hypothesis 28

O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.

(Psalms 30:3) KJV

You can come back from the grave but you can’t come back from the pit? That makes sense if the grave is the mantle and the pit is the core. Sheol includes the pit, but the pit is a part of sheol that you can’t come back from.

Levels of Hell

Cutaway of planet Earth showing the crust, mantle, great gulf and hell.

For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

(Psalms 86:13) KJV

The levels of hell aren’t what you think. However, they’re what we would expect. The Hebrews had a well developed idea of life after death. For them physical death, the grave, was a portal into a complex underworld realm: sheol.

Order and Scheduling in the Spirit World

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

(Luke 16:22) NKJV

Here’s a scary thought: if the beggar was carried by angels into Abraham’s bosom, in a chamber in the lower mantle which overlooks hell, did other angels carry the rich man to the lip of the chamber and toss him into hell?

Method

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

(Luke 16:22) NKJV

A common response to the human soul is that there isn’t one because science can’t detect it. However, we first detected gravitational waves in 2015. What else can’t science detect? We don’t know, science can’t detect it.

A Flaw in Our Understanding of the Core

For a fire is kindled in My anger, And shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, And set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

(Deuteronomy 32:22) NKJV

New research has uncovered a flaw in our understanding of the core — specifically, about the manner in which heat energy flows from the core and through the overlying mantle. The core is younger than the rest of the planet.

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Miners explore the deepest darkness.
They search the depths of the earth And dig for rocks in the darkness.

(Job 28:3) Good News Translation

The deepest hole ever drilled is the Kola Super-deep Bore-hole at 12 km. That’s less than 2% of the radius of the Earth. There are no direct observations of the Earth’s interior, nothing empirical, it’s entirely theoretical.
