He Who Overcomes
He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
(Revelation 21:7-8) NKJV
Overcoming is when we allow the Word of God to change us and make us more like the Lord. It’s when we realize that there is no spoon.

In 2017 He That Overcometh was timely because the previous day, December 11, our career had abruptly ended and the shock was still reverberating. Here’s a quote from the earlier version:
Overcoming can be accepting that a decision which causes us inconvenience, like being fired from a job, is intended for our benefit.
– Matty, December 12th 2017
The end of that career has been a great benefit and we’ve adapted to a way of life which gives top priority to prayer, devotion and improving this material. We’ve found in the second and third rewrites that the emotion and pain that we may have been feeling one or two years ago has gone. The wounds are healed. We’re not reacting to outside stimuli any more, we’re continuing on a journey deeper into the mind of God.
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
(1 Corinthians 2:14-16) ESV
This must be what overcoming feels like. Overcoming is realizing that we don’t have to change the world. God will take care of that. How would we even know what to change the world to? The only change that the world will accept is the change that it wants, and we know from scripture that this is not in alignment with God’s will. The change the world will accept is when we change and betray our Lord the Savior.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
(Romans 12:2) ESV
